"come on, Bri!" Abby sighed exasperatedly with a grin on her face. "You've been secretive all day. "Where are we going?" She put her head on his shoulder with an adorable pout.
Brian chuckled as he readjusted his hand on the wheel. "You'll see, babe". Abby made a noise of discontent that made Brian break out a grin.
For the first time in months they felt at peace. Abby's parents had finally left them alone to live their lives, their way. But not without having the last word, telling Abby once more, she was their biggest disappointment. But after doing well so far in their college courses, returning every so often to L.A. to see Brian's family.
Lately the two had been sharing a house, spending their free time together, and generally falling more. And more in love with each other. They enjoyed working on their own cars in the back of their own small garage at the back of their garden.
When looking at it, it was no wonder why Brian had decided that today was time they changed things up a little. His mind going back and forth on the past, present and their future together. All nerves he should be having, just didn't come to him. Without sounding cocky he knew the definite out come of this.
They were out in the middle of nowhere. Nothing around them for miles. Just driving for seemingly no end. "can you at least give me a hint?" She said pleading him with puppy dog eyes. "Hmmm....I'll try and give you an accurate hint. You know I suck at them".
Abby thought back to when they had a game night at college one night. Abby and Brian could draw, support, and have tons of general knowledge....the one thing they (Brian) lacked was the ability to guess in charades. "On second thought...never mind I'll just wait". She said defeated.
Brian smiled as it seemed she had finally given up. A little while later they pulled over. "What are we doing here?" Abby yawned as she had just woken up from her nap. "visiting old memories, while making a new one" he responded.
Without much warning, Brian put the car into a series of donuts. As he did so, Abby had started giggling up a storm as she squealed with life. She couldn't help by let her mind be brought back to the last time he had done something similar.
After finishing, he moved the car just outside the black ring on the ground. "Come on" he said with that grin. A grin that she had seen countless times. The grin that told her, he was feeling adventurous and wanted her by his side as he was on it.
"So are you finally going to tell me why we're here?" Abby asked, this time she was feeling very playful. She wrapped her arms around his neck, a motion that she had seen his parents so many times before while they were at the weekly barbecue.
"I guess....so the last time we were here, things weren't the Best. You were down, feeling like a disappointment. Back then I wouldn't let it stand. I promised you something that day, but we were too young back then. Now I'm here to move one step closer to fulfilling that promise". He said as he got down on one knee. "Abby Brouge, will you do me the honour of joining me in the rest of my life and marrying me".
Abby's hands went up to her mouth as she gasped. "I....y....yes...yes of course I will Brian!!!!" she said as she leapt at him and nearly tackled him into a bear hug. They embraced for s while before he skid the ring onto her finger.
"Thank you for choosing me, Brian". She said as she had her head in the nook of his neck. "Well, there was no competition with you, you're perfect in every way for me" he kissed her passionately.
The end.
