Dom and Letty were over at the O'Connor household for the afternoon. Dom had been meaning to visit the Buster for a while, something about parts shopping for an old Nissan that he could build with Jack, another Toretto tradition that he was expected to follow, but like Sunday barbecues, he had no issues doing it.
Dom, Brian and the kids were out looking at the old heap in the garage, while Letty and Mia were in the kitchen, sitting at the table. "so how's motherhood treating you?" Mia beamed at Letty.
Letty looked towards the carrier which currently housed a sleeping baby Brian. She sighed a little. "It's.... wonderful? Challenging? Honestly, I'm not too sure". She said not taking her eyes off the carrier. "Sometimes it's hard, you'd think I'd have been used to it after living with you when Jack was a Baby, but waking up every few hours in the middle of the night is exhausting" Mia laughed. "You'll be happy to know, you're in the tail end of his nightly wails" she reassured.
Letty had a strange look on her face. She was processing some emotion. "Anything else on your mind?" Letty looked at Mia. "Again, I don't really know. Whenever I imagined Dom and I starting our own family..... I never pictured it like this. I always expected that if I ever become a mom unexpectedly, that it would be because of me and Dom getting carried away". Mia cringed at the memories from their teenage/early adult years, but waited for Letty to continue.
"I mean, don't get me wrong. I love the little guy, a lot. He's got his dad's eyes, his smile. I guess I just kinda wish there was some of me in there too.....I don't know, it just sounds stupid when said aloud".
Mia nodded, acknowledging every word. "Letty, that's a completely normal thing to want, and for what it's worth, he couldn't have a better person to have as his mother figure. You've really evolved from the beginning, and you can teach him all the things you've learned alongside Dom. And who knows, maybe one day, you'll be able to give him a younger sibling or two"
Letty swirled her coffee around. "Thanks, Mia. I needed that. And your right, one day me and Dom will have our complete family, but for now, I'm going to enjoy it with this little guy, she gently rubbed Brian's tiny hand.
As if by response to the touch, Little Brian's eyes fluttered open. Soon they darted around his surroundings. Letty momentarily wondered what that must be like, to wake up in a completely different place from where you fell asleep.
Brian whimpered slightly, before Letty began to comfort him. "Hey there, sleepy guy" Letty said in her baby voice reserved for Little B only. "You have a nice nap?"
With his eyes fixated on his mother, little Brian began to calm down. He reached his little arms out towards her. Letty unhooked him from his carrier. "Look who it is, sweetie. It's your aunt Mia" she angled the baby towards Mia, who just melted at the sight. "Hey Honey....how's my favourite little nephew doing?" She said in a baby voice of her own. "Letty, I swear to god, I said no more kids, and this little guy is giving me severe baby fever" she spoke to Letty before turning her attention to the baby in her arms. It was now Letty's turn to laugh. "Yeah, you are!" She spoke to the Baby as Brian began to giggle with all the attention.
Letty loved the sound of Little Brian laughing to his heart's content. It was possibly her favourite sound in her small universe which now housed two special Toretto guys. This was now her life, she was a mother now. And despite it not being in the way she expected, she really wouldn't change it for anything.
The end
(This was originally going to be something entirely different, but that idea failed to not be cringe, so I tried a back up plan and I think it worked pretty well. I hope you enjoyed it, and I'll catch you lads and ladies in the next one.)
