Letty was in the kitchen filling the last of the containers with food for the barbecue. She heard the distinct sound of her husband's charger pulling in.
She walked out back and saw her boy. "Hey" she approached him. "You drifting yet?" She asked. "I am" Little Brian replied happily. "You should have seen it" they shared a quick hug and Letty kissed the top of his head quickly. "It was so cool, Mom". Mom. Sometimes Letty had to pinch herself when he calls her that. Her eyes softened and a smile instantly sprung to her face.
Now that he was coming up on 9 years old, the title was nothing new, but every time she heard it, it reminded her of the first time.
(Flashback)
She had been sitting on the ground with Little Brian, watching as the little boy pushed a small car around. He had begun imitating new sounds he heard and both parents were so proud.
Although he had entered their lives in a different way than most kids arrived, he was just as loved. He was such a happy baby and easy to care for.
Letty smiled as she watched the boy. "You're going to grow up to love cars just like daddy aren't you?" She kissed his little cheek.
Dom entered the scene. "Look who it is, sweetie". Letty said as she repositioned Brian on her lap. "Dadadada" Brian babbled as he reached for Dom. "Hey son, you being good for mama?"
Letty winced at the title. Yes she was now legally his mother, but sometimes she definitely didn't feel like she was good enough. She also felt guilty for Elena and her tragic passing. But she always tried to look at it for how it was now. He needed a mother figure in his life. Letty was going to always try and be there for him.
"He's been perfect". She said as she tickled the boys arm which caused him to giggle loudly. "You ticklish buddy?" Letty said with a smile as she tickled him again. It was true what they said....baby laughter is the sweetest sound ever.
"What's mama doing, bud?". Through his giggling he managed to get out "ma..mam....mama" Letty froze with her hand still stretched near Brian's arm. And Dom looked down to his son. Brian still giggled away. "Did he just say what I think he said?"
Unsatisfied with the one silence, Brian reached to Letty. "Mama!" He said as he grabbed her finger. "I'm here, Baby" she said as she was brought back from her freeze. "Atta boy" Dom said proudly. "Mama" Brian said as he gave Letty his best attempt at a hug.
Letty felt so many things in that moment. Pride, guilt, joy, excitement. "Forever and always, little man". She whispered.
(Present)
Letty was brought out of her memory when she dwe her husband walk up to her. "What you smiling about?" He asked with a smile. "Just enjoying being a mom" she shrugged. "You're the best one that I've ever seen". Dom whispered in her ear as he wrapped her in sn embrace.
"Hola, familia" a voice called out. Abuela Torretto was being led out by Mia "I'm starving" she continued as Dom and Letty broke from their embrace and gave each other one last love oozing look. "I also want a hug from everyone here". She finished as Dom playfully jogged over to her to give her the first hug.
Letty looked over to their son once more. He was the reason she kept fighting, he was the reason she smiled more everyday than she had ever smiled before. He was part of her soul "forever now and always" she thought to herself.
The end.
(Yeah I know, ending sucks and there's absolutely no plot here. But it was an idea of mine after seeing the adorable look Letty wears after Little B calls her mom in the movie. I hope you knocked some enjoyment out of it and I'll catch you lads and ladies in the next one.)
(The moment that melted a fandom's heart)
