His cockiness made her smile to herself, but he was right - becoming a detective had treated him well. He seemed more mature than before, more serious, yet had the same kind smile he'd had when we first met, while he was still an officer. His hair was still the same mousy brown, well-kept, but his complexion was more tanned than before and his freckles were more pronounced; the clear sign of a man who'd been making the most of his summer vacations over the years. His eyes were the same honey brown shade, but they seemed...aged. As though the things he'd seen since becoming a detective had humbled him a little. His clothing style hadn't changed though; he was still recognisable by his classic combination of a hoodie underneath a denim jacket, clearly hiding a very well-kept physique.
Still handsome, she thought.
But him being almost 15 years older than Lennox, it was a thought best kept to herself.
"Listen, I don't want to do this anymore than you. Okay? I'm sorry about Sasha. I know you two were close."
He watched her posture tighten slightly, though she tried to hide it.
"Thanks." She said quietly.
Admittedly she was trying to avoid eye contact with him; as much as avoiding it made her look more guilty, she couldn't help it.
"You figured out why the doctor called us in, right?" He asked.
She glanced at him as she shrugged slightly. "She was healthy. Now she's dead."
"That's right, they ruled her death as suspicious circumstances. So now I've gotta come in here, talking to you in an interrogation room like you're in trouble. And you're not. Alright? You're not. You did your best to save your friend, you did everything right."
"Did they tell you what killed her?"
