"So how are things with Chelsea?"
Jay let out a laugh, and from the tone of his forced chuckle Rawson raised an eyebrow.
"Oh. Trouble in paradise man?"
"That depends on how you define trouble."
"What? You have a fight or something?" He leant on the roof of Jay's car.
"I don't know man. What would you do if you had someone you cared about, and your girlfriend was trying to be so controlling that she wanted you to stop all forms of communication and contact with that person you care about?"
He watched Rawson's reaction, which was to stare at him in surprise. "Damn. Tough situation. We're talking about Lennox right?"
"Yeah."
"Chelsea don't want you seeing her?"
"No." "What's she worried about? The girl is 16."
"That's what I said, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I don't know, I mean I talked to her, told her that it wasn't fair for her to control everything that way."
"Oh yeah? How'd she take that?"
"Not well. She doesn't trust me. Not because I haven't given her a reason to, it's just...she's making her past problems my current problems and I don't want to deal with that. I told her I wasn't gonna cut Lennox off, she thinks I'm being a jerk and apparently I can't do much to change her mind, so what am I supposed to do?"
"Sounds like you're questioning things."
"Lately, yeah, I have been. I don't know, I've just been thinking. She needs constant attention, and reassurance, and with work hours and everything that's going on with Lennox I can't deal with someone being that dependent on me. I don't want to keep wasting time if I can't be what she needs and I know it's not working for me either. I just want it to be fair for both of us."
"Well it sounds like you're doing everything you can to make it that way. It sucks man, but you gotta do what's best for you. If that's going separate ways, maybe it's not the end of the world."
"Yeah, maybe. I don't know, I guess I'll figure it out. I should head back."
"Alright, let me know if you need anything."
"Thanks, appreciate it."
