What Lies Beneath The Clearing

She stared back in fear, Caleb following her eyes and seeing Jay's furious facial expression as he stopped Lennox's phone ringing in his hand. 

"Jay, listen man," 

"Where is she?" Caleb didn't answer him. He lost the chance defend himself from Jay taking his shirt in his fists, slamming him into the wall. 

"Where is she?!" 

"Stop!" 

"You let her go back? Didn't you?!" 

"Jay you're hurting him let go!!" Skye yelled, trying to pull him away. But her lack of strength against Jay made no difference to him holding Caleb so tightly to the wall that the teenager was on his toes. 

"She wanted to go! She said she wanted to figure everything out, for Kaila and for Sasha, we had to lie to you she didn't give us a choice Jay, you know she would've found a way to go back!" 

He had a point; Lennox was nothing if not resourceful. Even if they had tried to stop her, she would've figured a way out of the hospital without their help. His argument was the only thing stopping Jay from delivering a punch that would've had him in jail overnight for assaulting a minor, but that didn't lessen his anger. After a few seconds he let Caleb go, snatching Lennox's phone out of the kid's hand. 

"She switched phones with you, didn't she?" 

"She said it would give her more time, you won't find it her by tracing it, she's keeping it turned off until midnight, that's when she said she'd be back." 

"And what if something happens to her? Huh? What if something happens to her and she can't turn that phone on, what then Caleb?" 

"I don't know!" "She could die out there! Alone, because you two idiots let her go out there-" 

"Yeah well my sister died!!" Caleb suddenly shouted. 

He stepped forward as he said it, but it didn't scare Jay. He stood his ground, looking at Caleb in shock as his face slowly changed to show an expression of confused disgust.
