"Well? What do you make of her story?" Sergeant Casey, Jason's boss, asked as he came out of the observation room.
Jason stopped in front of him, shaking his head as he sighed. "There's no point pushing her now, she won't talk to me."
"You think they're telling the truth though? About what happened to Sasha?"
"I don't know. I mean you should've heard what Will said about it Sarge. There's no reason why she should be dead, she was perfectly fine until 3 days ago. I don't know, but it's not a coincidence that they all have the same story. I don't want to accuse her of anything, but I can't help her if she won't talk to me."
"Well is there anything you can do to change that? She knows you, Jay. And hell, you know her better than I do, she trusts you. If anyone can get her to open up it's you."
"I know. But she just lost her friend. Whether she's telling the truth or not, she's grieving, in her own way. Even if she is protecting her friends, she wouldn't give them up, not right now anyway."
Jason looked back at the interrogation room he'd just come out of, taking a deep breath to try and relieve some of the sympathy he had weighing on his chest.
"Look Jay, you know I trust your judgement. But I've got the chief telling me that you're too close to this." Sergeant Casey said quietly.
Jason swiveled to face him again, looking him up and down as his boss watched him intently.
"Are you? Too close to this? Because I need to know you can work this case without letting your personal connection to Lennox get the best of you."
"I'll be fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I got this."
"Okay. I trust you Jay."
Sergeant Casey walked away, leaving Jason to ponder his next moves.
