He hadn't rushed off to be anywhere all day, almost as if he were avoiding going somewhere, and seeing as Jay had always loved his job, there had to have been another significant reason as to why he wasn't in a rush to get home. Not to mention she'd seen him having an argument on the phone earlier that day, one too emotional for him to be arguing with his boss.
"Hm? Yeah, just uh...long day." He gave her another smile, but this one was forced, and didn't last longer than a few seconds.
Clearly he wasn't going to give it up without some encouragement.
"So, who is she?" Lennox asked bluntly.
She figured a direct approach was best. He just looked at her as she rolled her eyes.
"Come on Jay, it's kind of obvious. You've been tense all day, and your phone hasn't stopped going off since this morning."
"And that means I have a 'she'? I could've been getting messages from my boss."
"Were you?"
"That's irrelevant."
She just smiled to herself as he sat up slightly.
"You could tell, huh?"
"I heard your argument earlier when I went to look for my dad. Didn't sound like you were arguing with your boss. So? Who is she?"
He pursed his lips, as if she'd forced his hand and he wasn't a fan of the conversation that was about to take place.
"Her name is Chelsea. We've been together for six months."
"Wow. You finally found a girl who could tie you down for six months? Good for you."
"Very funny. I wasn't that bad."
"You're a compulsive flirt."
"I am not."
"You are. It's why all the female suspects cop to you, they think you're charming."
"Do you?"
