It was a welcome surprise when Jay walked into Lennox's hospital room just two hours after speaking on the phone. The unwelcome surprise was seeing the extensive bruising circling his right eye in a uniformed crescent shape; the smile drooped into a dropped jaw on Lennox's face as he shut the door behind him and came to sit at the end of the bed.

He flopped down with a sigh as she stared at him. "Jay...oh my God."

She winced after seeing it up close, shifting forward to get a better look as he spoke.

"Apparently Chelsea has a brother." He said with a defeated tone.

Lennox frowned. "What the hell happened?"

"I've got no idea. I got back from my lead and Casey said there was someone waiting for me in the lobby, so I went back down, they showed me who wanted me, next thing I know I'm getting socked in the eyeball."

"What did he do, try and punch it out the back of your head?"

"Probably." He let Lennox turn his head towards the light to see it better, wincing when she gently touched the outer edges of the bruise. "Ow."

"Sorry. Jesus."

"Yeah. I didn't even know she had a brother."

"She didn't mention it?"

"Must've slipped her mind." He raised his left eyebrow as he turned his head back to her, and she shook her head in disbelief.

"She can't do that. Especially not in your own precinct, someone arrested him right? For assaulting a police officer?"

"He's in holding. I think I'm just gonna tell Casey to hold him overnight and then let him go."

"What? No, Jay this is serious damage, you need to take photos and get them in a court room, show Chelsea she can't mess with you like this."

"And I would love to, if it were anyone else. Honestly I just don't have the energy to deal with it. She's hurting, if crying to her brother and sending him after me makes her feel better then fine, it's over now. I'd do the same if I had a sister and she came home crying about some guy."

Jay had a point. But Lennox was furious that Chelsea would do anything to hurt Jay. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, her emotions always got the better of her when it came to matters involving Jay, so all she could think of in that moment was hurting Chelsea back. Jay wouldn't want me to, and I'm not exactly in the shape right now to make matters worse for him, she thought. Instead, she wanted to make the most of his visit before he had to go back to work.
