Jay scanned her body language; she was genuinely shocked, like she thought he was joking. To be honest, she seemed normal, as if the person laying in the hospital bed before wasn't the same Lennox he knew.

"No. You're joking right? Jay?" She looked terrified.

He sighed and stood up, standing at the end of the bed.

"He's fine. Will put a pin in it, the surgery went well he's gonna be okay."

"You're not kidding are you?"

"No. You were in a lot of pain and he was holding your hand, and all of a sudden we heard the bone crack, he came out of here holding his wrist. To be honest you looked...out of it, I don't know, like you weren't yourself." He squeezed his nose as he spoke, trying to convince himself that he didn't sound crazy. "You really don't remember anything?"

He looked back at her as she shook her head. "Nothing. Where is he now?"

"Resting."

"Good. Skye?"

"Keeping him company. You scared her." He watched as she ran her hands through her hair.

She didn't respond, but he could see how worried she was.

"How do you feel now? How's the pain?"

"Better than before, I guess. I remember the pain getting worse, but I don't remember anything after breakfast. I don't know, it still aches a little." She sighed, looking at her cast.

"But you feel better? More like yourself?"

"Yeah, I guess. Whatever that means."

Her eyes drifted as her brows furrowed in worried confusion. As hard as she tried to recall the events of the day before, she had no luck. She could picture the scene Jay had described, but the sight of Caleb's pain in her mind, caused by her erratic state, made her feel uneasy.

Surely I wasn't that bad. She considered. I'm not even strong enough to push Caleb, let alone break his wrist. I hope he's okay.

He's fine.

"Hm?" Lennox looked up at Jay.

He frowned and looked her up and down. "I didn't say anything."

"Oh. Sorry. Must be hearing things."
