"Dad I don't know!"

She glanced at them after raising her voice and then quieted down.

"We don't know what happened to her. You know Sasha, she never gets sick so when she does, we notice."

"Alright, well was she sick?"

"For the past couple days, yeah. She wouldn't eat, she slept for hours, I'm talking 16 hours without waking, I thought she had the flu or something."

"The flu?"

"It was the most obvious option. But...I don't know, she had a fever, she had cold sweats, no appetite, sleeping a lot, the flu, pneumonia, everything crossed my mind. Then 30 minutes ago she just dropped. Her heart started racing, breathing was shallow and fast, Caleb was gonna call the ambulance but there wasn't enough time, and then she stopped breathing half way here. Okay? And now she's dead. That's all I know."

She shifted her weight on her feet as he studied her, everything from her face expression to her body language, and then he sighed.

"Okay. But I want you to stay at home tonight."

"Why?"

"Lennox you just lost a friend. Caleb is devastated and Skye won't be calm for much longer, just please...let me be there for the three of you alright? Just this once, let me be a dad."

She watched as he stepped back, turning to walk over to Caleb and Skye as she considered his request. How was she supposed to argue with that?
