Dr Rosewood shook his head in disbelief.
"Lennox," He didn't quite know what to say. "Sweetie your mother is gone,"
"But we never found out what happened to her. Right? I mean think about it dad. In my dream, my memory, she had a key to the house, she said she'd been going there for years, that her mother had given her the manor to protect and keep safe and that I had to do the same. Then she goes missing, and all of a sudden I don't remember anything."
"Or maybe it was just a dream."
"It wasn't. I know that's not what you want to hear but it wasn't a dream, it was real. I can feel it. And I feel it everytime I go back there."
"Lennox," He sighed in defeat, dropping his head slightly.
When he raised it again to look at her, she saw the tears pooling in his eyes.
"It's not possible. It can't be. I'm not saying you're crazy, okay? I'm not. But what happened to your mother...I don't think we'll ever know. And the fact that your mind has managed to twist her into all of this tells me that you never got over what happened."
He ran his hand over her cheek as he forced a smile. "I don't think I did either. But there is no way in this world that I can believe your mother, my wife, to be involved or connected to a place that has led to the disappearance and death of your friends. I'm sorry, I can't."
"Dad please, just let me try,"
"And do what?"
"Find out the truth. What if she wasn't involved? What if she disappeared the same way Kaila did?"
"Lennox,"
"You have to let me try,"
"Lennox she's gone!"
He squeezed her hands, maybe a little too tight, and as a tear ran down her cheek he sighed.
"And so is Kaila. Okay? I want to believe, I want to try. But it's been too long. I'm not saying that everything else you've told me isn't true, I'm just saying that in your mother's case, it's too late. And I can't...handle, you driving yourself into an early grave trying to figure out the truth, I can't lose you."
"Daddy please,"
"I'm sorry baby. But this ends now. Okay? This ends now."
