Evelyn sighed as she walked back into her hotel room. It had been a long night, but they had finally managed to catch the two werewolves. "You know you should have called ahead. I would have picked some food up," she said as she noticed Allison out of the corner of her eye. "Let me guess," she said, sitting down on the bed across from her. "Dad thinks you're up in your room sleeping."

"Why did you leave?" Allison blurted out. Evelyn froze, not quite sure how to answer that question. It was a complicated subject to explain to a seventeen-year-old.

"It's complicated, Ally," Evelyn said, slipping into the old nickname.

"What do you mean complicated? You left, left me and Dad behind." Allison's voice cracked as she spoke, shooting up out of the chair she sat in and pacing the room. Evelyn looked down at her feet. She had left Allison behind that day, knowing the young girl would be safer at home than with her.

"The fire," Evelyn whispered, finally feeling like she had let out some giant secret.

"The Hale fire," Allison asked, sitting down again. "You were there, weren't you?" Allison asked, looking up at her sister. Evelyn nodded.

"I went to try and save them when I found out Kate's plan, but I was too late. I believed that Derek and all of the Hale pack, except for Cora and Peter, were dead. Everyone I knew had either betrayed me or was dead. I couldn't stay."

"What about me?" Allison asked, "What about Dad?"

"Ally, you were 11. You were safer here where you were unaware of what was really going on, and Dad," Evelyn said, "well, Dad wasn't ready to believe that his family, his father, and little sister, were monsters. Allison, you should get home" she said after a minute.

"Why don't you come with me? I mean, why live in a hotel when you have us?" Allison asked.

"That's a story for another time, but," Evelyn said, "you have school tomorrow, and now is not the time." Allison nodded before finally walking out the door. Evelyn sighed, looking after her; she watched her discretely following behind her. Evelyn knew that Beacon Hills was a dangerous place, and while Allison was a hunter, now, Evelyn still saw her as that young girl who had competed in archery tournaments.
