Evelyn sat curled up in a chair, going through the bestiary on possible supernatural creatures that could be coming to Beacon Hills. Lexie had gone to sleep a couple of hours before. "You've read that entire book front to back a thousand times," someone said. Evelyn jumped, looking up to see her father standing in the doorway. Even though she now had her own apartment, it was only a few doors down from Argent's, so he dropped in often. He even had a key.

"I have to be ready in case Beacon Hills really does become a Beacon again," Evelyn said, setting her computer down tiredly.

"And right now, I think that you need to put the bestiary away."

Evelyn sighed, smiling. She shook her head slightly. "You know I'm 23 now, not 16, right?" she said, putting her computer away.

"I know, Argent said, stepping closer, but you're still my daughter, and I know that this is about more than just being prepared. If you want to talk," he said.

"I'm fine," Evelyn told him, standing up as she quickly cut him off.

"And I know you're lying," Argent said, "but" he continued holding up his hands defensively as Evelyn glared at him. "I won't push you if you don't want to talk." Evelyn shook her head, looking down at the floor.

"It's nothing," she lied, knowing precisely what was making her upset. She hadn't heard from Derek since he'd since they'd both confessed that they were in love with each other, and then he'd left, breaking her heart as only he could. "Anyway, I should probably go check on Lexie and get some sleep," Evelyn said. She stopped as her phone started to ring. She pulled it out to see it was Scott. "I've got to get this," she said, thinking of the issues Scott had been having and worried the new alpha had done something he might regret. "Hey Scott, what's up?" she asked.

"What do you know about werecoyotes?" Scott asked. Evelyn froze, something Talia Hale once said coming to mind.

"Where are you?" Evelyn asked, grabbing her keys and heading for the door.

 "What's going on?" Argent asked.

"We're in the woods," Scott said.

"Who's we?" Evelyn asked, opening the door. "Can you watch Lexie?" Evelyn asked quickly before hurrying out the door. She rushed to the woods using the general directions that Scott had given her to find him.

"Scott!" Evelyn shouted, jogging into the clearing. Sherrif Stlinski looked over his shoulder at her, shaking his head. He waved Evelyn over, not entirely surprised to see her knowing with Derek out of town, she and Deaton were the most knowledgeable of these situations. She quickly jogged over to find Scott and Stiles in front of him.

"Look, they're saying that the coyote is a girl. Is that possible?" Stlinski asked.

"Um," Evelyn said as another car pulled up.

"Oh no," Stlinski groaned as Agent McCall and another man stepped out. "Why did he bring him here?" Stlinski muttered. Evelyn looked at Stiles.

"I'll explain later," Stiles whispered. Evelyn nodded.

 "Dad," Scott said.

"We'll discuss later what you're doing here and how your mom thinks that it's appropriate for you to be out in the woods this late at night," Agent McCall said.

"So what's going on?" Evelyn asked as Agent McCall walked away with Stlinski.

"There's this old case of my dad's," Stiles said, "a car crash."

"A car crash led you to a werecoyote," Evelyn asked, confused.

"The werecoyote, we believe, is a girl named Malia Tate," Scott said. Evelyn looked up at them, startled.
