"So you honestly have no idea how you knew Scott was in trouble" Melissa asked as they cleared the table. Melissa had invited Evelyn and Lexie over to dinner. Scott had run off after dinner to help Kira with something.
"Nope," Evelyn said. Both women looked up as a loud knock sounded throughout the house, "expecting anyone?" Evelyn asked.
"No, but it could be Rafael," Melissa said tensely.
"I'll get it," Evelyn said, "and then we can make him do the dishes," she joked, knowing how tense the relationship was between Melissa and her ex-husband. Melissa smiled as Evelyn jogged off toward the door. "Hey, can you check on Lexie for me?" She called over her shoulder. She's been unusually quiet.
"Yeah," Melissa shouted back as Evelyn opened the door. She turned back, freezing, as she saw Marcus standing there.
"What are you doing here?" Evelyn asked coldly, not wanting to give him any opening like she had the night before.
"I was looking for you. I wanted to talk," Marcus said.
"Evelyn, is everything okay?" Melissa called from the kitchen.
"Evelyn, I just want to talk to apologize," Marcus said before she could respond, trying to keep her attention on him.
"Talk," Evelyn spat. "You wanna talk about what?"
"About Lexie," Marcus said "I want to see her."
"See her," Evelyn shouted. "You think you can just show up and walk back into our lives after three years?"
"Evelyn, what's going on?" Melissa asked, coming up behind the younger woman, her tone of voice making Melissa worry.
"Nothing, Marcus was just leaving," Evelyn said, tears pricking in her eyes.
"She's my child, to!" Marcus yelled.
"No, Marcus, you gave up that right when you left us" Evelyn said, her voice cracking on the last words.
"I think you should go," Melissa said, wrapping an arm around Evelyn's shoulders and pulling her close to try to comfort her. Marcus huffed, but he turned, walking off. Melissa moved quickly to shut the door behind him before guiding Evelyn over to the couch. "Are you okay?" she whispered, sitting down next to Evelyn. Evelyn shook her head. "You want to talk about it?" Melissa asked. Evelyn kept her eyes on a spot on the carpet in front of her.
"He's Lexie's father," Evelyn whispered.
"You told all of us he was dead," Melissa said.
"I took Lexie out to get ice cream one night, and when I returned, the house was on fire." Evelyn took a deep breath. "We stayed for two weeks thinking that Marcus would come back, but he never did, and I couldn't take the chance that Gerard or Kate would find us. So we left. Cora had found a pack in South America. She met us at the Mexican border, and we joined her pack, but Marcus knew about the supernatural world about Cora, about everything if he'd wanted to find us before he could have." Suddenly, Evelyn felt a rush of panic. "Something's wrong," she whispered, standing up and wiping her face.
"Why, what is it?" Melissa asked as Evelyn looked around.
"I don't know, but it's the same feeling I had before when Scott was attacked by Barrow, except I don't think it's Scott," Evelyn said.
"Who then?" Melissa asked.
"I don't." Evelyn started to say "Lydia," she blurted out something in her brain connecting. "I need to go," she told Melissa. She turned around, looking at Lexie, who was playing in the next room.
"Go, I'll look after her make sure the kids are all right" Melissa said. Evelyn nodded before racing out of the house. She dialed Allison as she drove, knowing that wherever Lydia was, Allison was probably with her.
"You've reached Allison Argent. You've missed me, but leave a message, and I'll get back to you."
"Dammit, Allison pick up," Evelyn growled. Her gut was telling her Lydia was in trouble and that Allison was safe. "Lydia, what did you do?" Evelyn breathed. Suddenly, she felt a tug in her stomach, like a string pulling her in a particular direction. Evelyn followed it her instincts, telling her that on the other end of that pull was Lydia, and the only way to keep her safe was to find her as soon as possible.
Evelyn pulled up outside the loft, surprised to see where she had ended up. She rushed inside, ignoring the party, as she searched for Lydia. "Evelyn!" She heard someone shout. She turned to find Aiden holding Lydia in his arms, rushing toward her. Danny was right next to him.
"Lydia!" Evelyn shouted, running over and meeting Aiden halfway.
"She's cold, freezing," Aiden said.
"There's a heater somewhere around here," Evelyn said, having visited the loft often enough to know the layout.
"Over here," Aiden said, pushing past Evelyn and rushing to a corner. Evelyn and Danny quickly followed.
"Ethan is missing as well," Danny said as Aiden laid Lydia down in front of the heater. Evelyn grabbed a blanket, wrapping it around the strawberry blonde.
"Come on, Lydia, come on," she said, rubbing her shoulder, trying desperately to warm her up.
"Can't you just heal her?" Aiden asked.
"She's cold, not really injured, Aiden. I can't heal cold any faster than this heater can."
"Evelyn, she's almost frozen," Aiden said.
"And trust me, if I could do anything to help her, I would, but there's nothing I can do."
"They came out of the dark," Lydia whispered.
"Who, Lydia, who came out of the dark," Evelyn asked as Aiden pulled her close.
"Get out!" someone yelled. The crowd dispersed, revealing several shadowy ninja-looking figures. Aiden handed Lydia off to Danny
"get her out of here," he said. The teen quickly rushed the young girl out of the room.
"Guys, they're all looking at me. Why are they all looking at me?" Aiden shouted as the shadowy figures surrounded him, Evelyn still at his side. She stepped back as Scott lunged at the creatures. He was easily thrown aside Derek as well when he tried to fight.
"Derek!" Evelyn yelled, stepping forward at the same time Issac did. One of the creatures pulled a sword out of his chest. Issac quickly stepped back. Evelyn froze she was boxed in with Aiden. Suddenly something clicked in her head a story her father had told her before these things he had met before. They approached, ignoring Evelyn, going straight for Aiden. "Why not me?" Evelyn wondered. He was trapped one of the creatures looked into his eyes, placing a hand behind his head. Aiden dropped to the ground like the others. Ethan quickly rushed to his brother. "Scott!" Evelyn shouted, noticing that the creatures were approaching him. Evelyn, no, stay where you are, Derek shouted, worried about what the shadow figures would do to her if she got in their way. Evelyn tensed, wanting to move forward seconds later. The decision was made for her as the sun came up and the creatures disappeared. Evelyn sighed. The danger was gone. Derek rushed over quickly, pulling her close, worried he hadn't been able to fight the shadow figures, but they sure had been able to fight him. "I'm fine," Evelyn whispered. She tensed suddenly, a now all too familiar panicked feeling filling her.
"What's wrong?" Derek asked. Evelyn looked around the room everyone was safe, and everyone was here everyone, but that same feeling was still there.
"Dad," she breathed. Allison looked at her, scared.
"What What's wrong?" She asked
"Dad he's in trouble," Evelyn said before turning and racing out of the room, Allison, Issac, and Derek close behind her.
