A/N This chapter has been written as if there was about a week in between when Allison died and the end of the last episode of season 3B

Evelyn stood next to her father, solemn-faced, as they erected a headstone for Allison next to Kate. Lexie stood next to her, confused. She didn't understand why her beloved aunt wasn't coming back. One day, Lexie would be brought into the supernatural world. Evelyn knew that, but she was only six right now, and Evelyn would do whatever she could to prevent Lexie from having a childhood like hers, one filled with pain and loss, one destroyed by violence and death. She had lost Allison, but she wouldn't lose her daughter. Scott stood across the small patch of grass, Stiles on one side of him with Lydia on the other. Melissa and Sherrif Stlinski stood behind the teens. Issac stood on the other side of Argent, and Derek stood behind them a few feet away. It was a small funeral, just close friends and family, but it's what Allison would have wanted later: there would be a time for neighbors, friends, and classmates to come by and express their condolences. Evelyn already knew her father planned to leave as soon as the funeral was over and that Issac was going with him. She had decided to stay while she wished she could run. She had Lexie, and she couldn't just uproot the girl again. Evelyn turned as she saw movement out of the corner of her eye, and she saw even Peter and Ethan had shown up. They stood by a small cluster of trees at the cemetery's edge. Allison had meant something to all of them, and even though Peter hated her in a way, he also respected the way she had changed the Argent name. Allison had brought a form of peace between their families. Evelyn turned, walking away. She couldn't take it anymore, standing there looking at the headstone, the name written on it. Suddenly, she felt a hand slip into hers. She looked back to see Lydia standing there, tears trailing down her cheeks. "I'm sorry," Lydia whispered. Evelyn reached out, pulling the young girl into a hug.

"It's not your fault," she whispered.

"She wouldn't have been there if I hadn't gotten caught." Lydia whispered, "I-I don't know how to do this," she said.

"Together," Evelyn whispered, "we do this together."

Evelyn stood in the living room of her father's apartment, looking at everyone, saying how sorry they were. Everyone kept telling her it was expected to be mad or cry. But Evelyn didn't know how to tell everyone that all she felt right now. All she had felt for the past week was numb. It was like it hadn't fully sunk in yet. Like she was still holding out hope that Allison was going to walk through that door any minute now, even though she had watched the Oni plunge a blade into her chest, she wasn't coming back. "I should go. I need to put Lexie to bed," she said abruptly. Stepping away, she scooped the small child up and hugged her close as if she was afraid that she could disappear. Evelyn walked over to her own apartment, tucking Lexie, who was already half asleep in her arms, into her bed. She placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Evelyn turned, walking out of the room. She carefully turned the light off and shut the door. She walked into her room, something inside her breaking as her eyes fell on an old picture that sat on her dresser. It was taken when Allison was a competitive archer during her first competition. Both sisters were smiling, hugging each other, their father beside them, holding the trophies they had just won. Evelyn sunk to the floor, a sob tearing from her throat. Her door creaked open, and someone knelt down in front of her, but Evelyn was too broken to care, tears streaming down her face. The outside world was a blur. All Evelyn could think about was Allison. She was gone. She was really gone. She wasn't coming back. Whatever they'd won, Allison was gone, the person she'd promised herself she'd protect. "I should have saved her," Evelyn sobbed. "I should have been faster, just a little faster, and maybe she'd be alive."

"No, no, this isn't your fault," the person who had knelt down in front of her said, making her realize it was Derek. Evelyn shook her head.

"I-I," she stuttered.
