Evelyn looked up as the front door to the clinic chimed open. She was sweeping the floor. After what had happened last night, she had run to the clinic, not wanting to go home or to have to face the truth that Derek was dead. That, yet again, she had lost him. Deaton had questioned her for hours, wondering what had happened, but he had stopped once Stiles and Scott had shown up telling him everything. Deaton had realized why Evelyn wouldn't speak, why she wouldn't tell him he knew her secret, something that Evelyn wouldn't even admit to herself. Derek Hale was much more than her friend. Deaton knew that Evelyn had been in love with Derek since they were teens, and now, in the span of a few weeks, she had found out he was alive and lost him all over again, something that must have almost broken her being given hope only for it to be ripped away. Evelyn backed away from the door, slowly angling toward the door that divided the entryway from the actual clinic as Kali, Aiden, and Morrell entered the two alphas carrying Ennis in between them. Then she froze, processing the scene in front of her. Ennis was alive, which meant that maybe, just maybe, Derek was alive. "Evelyn," she heard Deaton call from behind her. She turned, darting toward him, but Kali got there first, Marin beside her. Evelyn quickly backpedaled, stopping when her back came to rest against the wall. She didn't have any weapons unless you counted the broom currently clutched in her hands, but against two alphas, a broom would be useless. The only thing that kept Evelyn from using her newfound abilities to attack was the possibility that the three people in front of her knew where Derek was. Evelyn watched as Morrell tried to reason with Deaton. She stepped forward, anger rushing through her when the Druid mentioned Scott. While Evelyn barely knew the young beta, he was kind and clearly important to both Allison and Derek, and Evelyn wasn't willing to let Allison feel the loss she felt now. Deaton looked up quickly, shaking his head and telling Evelyn to back down. She nodded, stepping back slightly, trying to think of where Derek might go. She knew he would go to the loft. It was the safest place for him to be, but looking at the state Ennis was in, there was no way that Derek could get there by himself. Deaton opened the door, and Evelyn moved forward, but Kali quickly blocked her way, growling.

"I'll need her help," Deaton said calmly as Aiden and Morrell brought Ennis into the clinic.

"You'll do just fine without her, Druid," Kali spat.

"You really think I'm going to take the chance and kill Ennis?" Evelyn asked, laughing dryly.

"And why wouldn't you? Your mission is to eradicate us. You're a monster." Evelyn recoiled at the word, feeling as if she had been slapped.

"Because Kali Evelyn spat back, there were two alphas who fell off that ledge, and while you care about Ennis, I want Derek. Ennis is the only one who can tell me what happened, so, at the moment, my concern for Derek's well-being outweighs my general distaste for you and your pack." Kali growled, but she knew that Evelyn was Ennis's best shot at survival and that the young Argent would do whatever it took to protect those she cared about. She'd seen the havoc and destruction Evelyn had wrought when they had threatened her family once before. Evelyn walked past Kali and into the exam room. "What do you need?" she asked Deaton.

"I need someone to get me some clean bandages," Deaton said. "Not you, he told Evelyn as she turned to go. Come here, he told her, motioning her closer. You can heal him," Deaton whispered.

 "I can, but" Evelyn started.

"Evelyn, if he dies, they'll kill Derek," Deaton whispered. Evelyn looked down at Ennis, knowing that healing him would drain her.

"I can't get him back to full strength, but maybe to human strength," Evelyn said, laying her hands on the large wound that split Ennis's chest. She closed her eyes, trying to shut out the memories that came every time she used her abilities. Monster, the voices whispered. She shoved them away, concentrating on healing Ennis. Derek needed her to do this.
A while later, Evelyn collapsed backward, falling toward the floor. Deaton caught her before she crumbled. She shook her head, struggling to her feet to look at Ennis, who was now mostly healed. Go rest, Deaton said, guiding her toward his office in the back corner. Evelyn curled up in the chair inside the small makeshift space, too tired to worry about the fact that she was virtually unprotected from the alphas just on the other side of the wall. Alphas who would gladly kill her if given the chance.

Evelyn woke up what felt like only a few moments later, but in reality, it was probably hours later. Ugh, she mumbled as the person waking her shook her again. "Evelyn, you need to wake up." Suddenly, everything came flooding back, and she realized it was Deaton speaking to her.

"What, what happened?" Evelyn asked, shooting upright.

"Ennis is dead," Deaton said. "You need to get out of here, find Derek."

"He's probably in his loft," Evelyn muttered, "and knowing Kali, she'll probably follow me," Evelyn hissed.

"Okay, then go where you know he's not," Deaton said. "Lead her away until Scott and the others get back tomorrow, and we know Derek is healed." Evelyn nodded, standing up and grabbing her bag from Deaton and the jacket that had been laid over her shoulders. Darting out of the clinic, she had to at least pretend like she was going to try to get rid of anyone following her. It was pitch black outside as Evelyn rushed off on her dark blue bike.
