Evelyn knew where he would be, where Deucalion would go. She hurried to Derek's loft, having scoped out the place out of curiosity and old feelings of wanting to be close to Derek. Evelyn stopped her bike just outside the building, looking up. He was in there, she thought, standing up before pausing, unsure exactly which he she was thinking about, which he was she afraid to run into. Both men had such a deep connection to her past to the innocent girl she used to be. She shook her head before rushing into the building. Evelyn walked into the top floor, seeing that there was an open door in the middle of the hall. She rushed forward, ducking into the loft. Evelyn skidded to a stop when she heard a loud growl. She looked up and saw Ennis running toward her. She ducked, spinning around so she was behind Ennis, facing him. Ennis snarled, turning and lunging at her. Evelyn knew she couldn't win a head-on fight with Ennis. He was twice her size and had werewolf abilities. She reached back, pulling out a small dagger and holding it behind her back as Ennis lunged forward, grabbing her by her neck and shoving her into the wall, his claws piercing her soft skin. She hissed slightly as the scratches on her back flared with pain when Ennis shoved her against the wall. "You've lost," Kali hissed triumphantly from where she stood, holding a pipe in Derek's back. Evelyn forced herself to look away from her old friend. When she saw Cora approaching, she slightly shook her head.

"Actually," Evelyn said, "I believe you're the one who's lost."

 "And how's that?" Ennis asked.

"This," Evelyn said, shoving the knife into Ennis's stomach. "Now," she said in a low, threatening voice as Ennis hissed, reeling backward, holding his stomach. "That knife is coated with wolfsbane. I estimate that he has about twenty minutes before he passes out 30 before he dies," Evelyn said. Kali snarled, twisting the pipe in Derek's back, causing him to cry out and cough up blood. Evelyn felt like her heart was being pulled out of her chest at the sound. He was in pain, and she had to save him. "This," she said, holding up a small pill, "is the exact mix of wolfsbane that I used on the blade, so how about we make a trade Derek for Ennis?" Evelyn said, her heart hammering, knowing that Deucalion might just kill both Ennis and Derek without a second thought. Deucalion laughed.

"You really have got us in a predicament, don't you?" He said, "Alright, I'll play along. Let him up, Kali." The female werewolf growled, lifting the pipe out of Derek's back and walking toward Ennis. As soon as she and Deucalion were far enough away, Cora raced to her brother's side. Evelyn stayed put, watching the three alphas once they had left the loft. She rushed over to Derek's side as well. He groaned in pain as she pushed her hand against his wound.

"Can you do anything?" Cora asked, aware of Evelyn's abilities.

"I don't know if I should," Evelyn said. "Healing him when he can heal himself might mess with his own healing abilities." Derek groaned again.

"He's in pain," Cora said, her voice cracking.

"Cora, if he can't heal on his own, then he'll be in more danger later on. If he isn't healing in the next five minutes, I'll do it, but we have to give him a chance," Evelyn said, withdrawing her hand so she wouldn't be tempted to just heal the wound on her own. She knew there were risks thousands every time she healed someone. But while the rational part of her brain acknowledged that the emotional part begged her to save him, to heal him and stop the pain.
