Evelyn walked around the school building, stretching her legs. She had been in her classroom all day. She pulled her sleeves down, picking the lint off the wrists of her white shirt she had paired with black jeans and ankle boots. Lydia constantly teased her about wearing only darker and muted colors, but she'd spent so long trying her best not to be noticed that she didn't feel comfortable in brighter colors that drew attention. After talking to Scott and Stiles that morning, it had been decided that the teens would go after Malia while Evelyn tried her best to keep the adults from finding out, especially agent McCall, who didn't know anything about the supernatural but was very good at getting in the way while the pack tried to save the town and each other. Evelyn stopped midstep when she heard a low growl. She turned, rushing toward the noise. She rushed down the hall, stopping when she realized the growling was coming from the locker room. "Why is it always the locker room?" She grumbled. It was like the locker room was a Beacon of its own. She slowly walked inside, freezing as she was greeted in the doorway by a growling coyote. The animal stood over two backpacks. Evelyn recognized them as Scott and Stiles's bags. "Malia," she breathed, realizing who the coyote must be. The animal froze, looking at Evelyn, confused as if she was trying to recognize the name. Then she pounced, growling. Evelyn dodged, rolling across the ground; she slid behind a row of lockers. She put a hand over her mouth, trying to quiet her breathing. She peeked around the corner of the locker room, wondering who was in here with her; it wasn't Scott. He would have scared Malia off by now. "Stiles," she hissed. "Stiles, are you in here?" She asked. Evelyn heard a soft whimper coming from the last row of lockers. "Stiles," Evelyn whispered, rising into a crouch. She crawled back to see a student crouched in the back of the locker room. "Kira," Evelyn whispered, recognizing the young girl in her third period. Kira looked up at her, clearly scared. "Kira listens to me," Evelyn whispered. "We need to move."

"What?" Kira hissed, "It's going to kill us."

"Kira, if we stay where we are, then the coyote may actually kill us. She doesn't know what she's doing."

"She?" Kira asked. A snarl sounded right next to Evelyn's ear. She jumped, pushing Kira up and away from Malia, who was coming around the corner. Suddenly, Scott appeared, grabbing Kira's wrist and yanking her behind him. He flashed his red eyes at Malia, causing her to instinctively back away at the sight of an alpha. Evelyn scrambled to her feet. She slid behind Scott, sheltering Kira with her body. Scott stepped forward, shoving down the lockers. Evelyn and Kira stayed in the back of the locker room for a couple more moments. Evelyn listened.

It was eriely quiet, "Scott!" she shouted, stepping away from Kira. "Scott!" Evelyn shouted again, walking briskly to the front of the locker room, sweeping her long hair out of her face. She really should have taken the time to braid it that morning. Having it down, it got in the way. "Scott, where are you?" She shouted.

"I'm here," Scott finally called, appearing at the end of a row of lockers. Kira at his side as he checked to ensure she wasn't injured. Evelyn sighed with relief as she saw that he was okay.

"What happened here?" Someone asked from the doorway. Evelyn and the two teens turned to see Stiles standing in the doorway.

 "Coyote," Evelyn said simply.

"Yeah, you should probably call your dad," Scott told him. "And pray he's the only father that shows up," the McCall boy grumbled. Evelyn sighed. She was going to have to referee between Agent McCall and everyone else. She was really not in the mood.

Evelyn leaned up against one of the few lockers still standing as Sheriff Stlinski talked to the boys. She straightened as she saw Mr Tate walking into the room. A distraught father could be very inflammatory, especially when he didn't know anything about the supernatural or the fact that the coyote he believed killed his daughter was his daughter. Evelyn walked over as she saw the distraught father snatch a doll from Stiles. "Is everything okay?" She asked, stepping up next to Sherrif Stlinski, who tried to help Mr. Tate out of the locker room. She watched the Sherrif stiffen once his hand met the man's side. "What is it?" Evelyn asked quietly.

"It's registered," Mr Tate said. Evelyn stiffened immediately, knowing what the man was talking about. Guns, even in the hands of regular humans, still made her nervous.

"California schools are a gun safe zone permit or no permit," Stlinski said. Mr Tate stiffened before walking out of the room, immediately leaving the building.

As Stiles talked to his father, Evelyn stood by the side door with Scott. She could tell that Scott was listening to the conversation. "We need to get this coyote thing fixed today," she muttered.

"Fixed?" Scott asked, clearly not appreciating her choice of words.

"What else would you like me to say?" "While I'm sure Mr Tate loves his daughter, but, right now, he's about to kill her, and she's about to kill us," Evelyn hissed.

"What's got you so grumpy?" Scott asked.

"You mean besides almost getting killed by a coyote that's actually a teenage girl that Talia?" Evelyn slammed her mouth closed quickly as part of what was really bothering her slipped out.

"Talia, what?" Scott asked, clearly frustrated with Evelyn's secretkeeping.

"Nothing." Evelyn shook her head, looking at Stiles, who stood with his father. "I've got to go," she said, turning and rushing out the door. She couldn't help thinking that there was something familiar about Kira. Something that she should be wary of. This time, she didn't push away the feeling remembering how it had ended badly when she did that with Jennifer.
