Evelyn sat in the darkness of the animal clinic's back room. Deaton was out getting some supplies while she sat there with her thoughts. It had been two days since she had confronted the others about facing Deucalion. She knew from talking to Deaton that they were still going ahead with their plan even though she hadn't spoken to them since the fight. Part of her wanted to join them, but the rational part told her it was a suicide mission, even with her newly discovered healing abilities that Deaton had been recently helping her figure out while they talked about the new development of the Durach and what each sacrifice could mean. Evelyn jumped as the lights flipped on. She had been stuck in her thoughts and hadn't noticed Deaton entering the clinic. "You're thinking about Derek again, aren't you?" The Druid asked. Evelyn sighed.

"I just I know that fighting Deucalion head-on is a suicide mission, but I, these kids, they remind me of how I used to be, how we used to be," Evelyn said.

"You mean a pair of troublemakers who believed they were invincible and had Gerard running in circles trying to find out who you were?"

Evelyn laughed slightly. "We did really piss off Gerard."

"I will say, though," Deaton said, leaning against the exam table Evelyn was perched on. "The two of you together were damm near invincible, and they had been going up against scores of hunters and coming back with barely a scratch. Go," he whispered. Evelyn looked up at him, confused. Deaton smiled. "One thing I've learned from the two of you is that you survive better together," he said. Evelyn smiled jumping off the the exam table.

"I'll call you later," she said, rushing out of the clinic and grabbing her bag as she left.

Evelyn slipped into the abandoned building. She had managed to get Peter to tell her where Derek had gone after some persuasion and a guilt trip. She slipped an arrow out of the leather quiver strapped to her back. She notched the arrow into her bow, keeping it aimed at the floor. She walked quickly, making her way to the upper levels as she kept her ears trained on the fighting around her. They weren't doing well, but that was what Evelyn had expected. Fighting against a pack of alphas was different than fighting against any other foe, human or supernatural. She knelt on a piece of concrete that jutted out over the fighting below. Evelyn saw Kali stepping on Cora's throat, almost crushing her windpipe. The twins, in their merged form, had Scott and Issac in a death grip. Ennis was standing over Boyd, who lay injured on the ground, while Derek stood in the middle, looking between Boyd and Cora. Deucalion was positioned on the broken escalator, watching everything with a smirk on his face. A flash caught Evelyn's eye, and she looked up to see Allison standing opposite of her, an arrow aimed at the fight below. Evelyn tilted her bow so that the tip of her arrow caught the light, catching Allison's attention. Allison looked up, locking eyes with Evelyn. The two sisters didn't need to speak. They both looked back down, mentally counting to three before releasing their arrows, the projectiles hitting the walls and blinding the werewolves. Scott Derek and the others fighting the alpha pack quickly shielded their eyes, taking advantage of the distraction to regroup as Deucalion yelled for the alphas to cover their eyes. Allison and Evelyn released several more arrows to blind the alphas. Evelyn sighed as she noticed Cora safely away from Kali, now fighting the twins with Boyd. She looked around, having lost track of where Derek and Scott ended up. Her heart stopped as she caught sight of Derek and Ennis fighting on a ledge. Scott approached to help. Scott swiped at Ennis's leg, and he fell over the edge, taking Derek with him. "No!" The scream tore its way out of Evelyn's throat as she watched Derek fall over the edge. Kali crumbled to the ground with a roar of anguish for Ennis. The fight was over, and Evelyn was right. They had not come out of it unscathed, and yet the price they paid was one she was never willing to pay. The price was Derek's life. Deucalion looked up at Evelyn from his position.

"If only you could have saved him, he shouted. If only you were just a little more powerful." And she knew what he meant if only she'd joined him like he had offered.
