He connected our lips for a few seconds. Daniel pulled back, "Should we go to our room?" he smirked.
I nodded and kissed him, Daniel led me to our room. We got changed into our sleepwear and I had my hair in rolls before we went to bed, sharing breathless kisses.

27th of July

I had contacted Edda's friends from university and they agreed to a party. We had decided that I'll keep Edda distracted till 4:00-4:30 so they have time to set up.
"Edda, do you want to talk about biology? It's been a long while since I had last been able to talk about it, and I'm worried I've gotten rusty," I asked.

She looked confused, "But you are studying psychology," she stated.
I laughed, "Mental and physical health are linked, and I wanted to be a physician for years, since I was nine until I was seventeen, and I'm still interested in the topic," I explained.

Edda nodded, "I guess, do you want to do it at my house?" she offered.
I shook my head, "How about we do it at the park, so it's more casual," I pressed.
Edda seemed to agree with the idea and we walked to a nearby park.

We talked for a while, maybe 20 minutes before we started to walk to her home. "So Gretchen, do you know when you and Daniel are going to get married?" she asked.
I chuckled slightly, "We aren't sure, but we are thinking spring or the warmer months of autumn since my dress is suited for warmer months, but with the men wearing fancy suits or tuxedos, it wouldn't be fair," I reasoned.

Edda nodded, "Come to think of it, only you and Mama have seen the dress, she won't show anyone else," she trailed, turning to me, "Gretchen, what does it look like?" she asked.
I smiled, "It's beautiful, it isn't plain white, but rather off-white for some colour, and there are mesh roses for some colour, not eye-catching," I described.

Edda just looked at me, "Off-white? That doesn't sound nice..." she muttered.
"It isn't a yellow or dirty off-white, it's a pale pink and purple, the base is white, but with a small tint of pink, so it isn't obvious unless to compare it to something bright white. There's a thin fabric over it in a very faded white-lavender colour and some floral design and lacing, some beads that are going to represent pearls due to money, well, you'll have to wait and see," I said, picturing the dress.

Edda nodded, "Sounds nice, how long is it?" she asked.
I shrugged, "Not that long, it touches the floor, and a very short train, I'm talking only a centimetre (0.4in) or two (0.8in) on the floor, and a 30-centimetre (11in) train. More glamours given the Great Depression, but compared to the past, the vail isn't that long either, it goes a little past the train, and connects to the taira I'll be wearing, I'm buying the taira myself, but your mother has drawn one in a style that fits. The veil is a thin white material with small embroidery near the edge. The only thing your mother is making is the dress a vail, the rest is me, and the Whitestones are paying for the venue and some of the decorations, but they volunteered for that, your family isn't paying for anything, which is what Daniel and I were budgeting for anyway, I didn't think my adoptive parents were going to pay for anything or have anyone make my dress," I explained.

Edda stared, "You weren't expecting anyone to help pay?" she seemed astounded.
I laughed, "Well, you guys weren't here when we got engaged, and the Whitestones have the boys to worry about and had already saved for my university fees, which I spent in Germany, that's another story, and not one to say on your birthday," I said, looking at her.

She sighed, "I never knew what happened exactly, I knew you visited my parents, and with Daniel wanted dead..." she trailed off.
I nodded, "I thought he was dead at one point, and that's when I didn't care to save my money, I still had some left, but I thought Daniel was dead, I felt nothing, numb, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy," I muttered.
