Nyssa had recruited Bonnie and Gram's help along with a few of the most powerful witches Shiela knew who were willing to help. They did a spell to desiccate the original and placed him right beside his father. They didn't tell anyone about their brief trip to South Carolina agreeing the less the Scooby gang knew the safer it would probably be.

Bonnie returned to Mystic Falls but Nyssa charted a plane and flew back to Italy. Upon arriving she immediately felt her stress levels drop. The sun and aromatic plants, the sea breeze, it was the most magical place in the world and never failed to make her feel better.

Pulling up she exited the cab paying the driver and getting her suitcase from the back. She walked into her house flipping the lights on before dimming them and dropping her coat and bags by the door.

Looking around she knew immediately something was off but she didn't sense any danger.

"Welcome home, honey," she heard a familiar voice say immediately recognizing it as Damon's. He walked towards her coming from the other room.

"Like what you've done with the place," he tells her.

"What are you doing here?"

He shrugs, "I missed you," he tells her simply pulling on her emotions.

"I missed you too, but I still don't forgive you," she tells him honestly.

"That's okay, I don't forgive me yet either," he tells her.

"Can you hate me while still giving me a hug?" He asks missing their physical contact as much as anything.

Nyssa moves into him wrapping her arms around him as she savors being so close to him again.

"I don't hate you," she tells him and he smiles into her hair, 'well at least that's something,' he thinks.

They end up outside drinking wine and looking out to the water.

"So how are you?" He asks the question sounding lame even to him.

"Small talk, Damon, really?" Nyssa asks surprised.

"Stefan and Elena both told me I wasn't gonna be able to fix this with a stunt or a big romantic gesture that we'd actually have to talk things through," Damon tells her.

"Ugh, sounds so boring and tedious," Nyssa says making Damon smile. She really was perfect for him... and it reminded him just how worth it all this was if it meant her and him forever. He'd forgo the grand gestures and actually have the boring conversations needed for them to get to a better place. Really any place with her was his happy place but he needed to make this better for her.

"I know," he says largely agreeing with her, "I did come up with one in case the whole talking thing failed," he adds.

"Really? What was it?" She asks leaning back on the outdoor sofa getting a bit more comfy.

"Can't tell you that I may need to use it still," he tells her.

"Can I have a hint?" She asks.

He leans back into the sofa also adjusting to get more comfy turning to face her instead of the water.

"It came to me while Caroline was forcing me to sit through 'The Notebook," he tells her.

"How did she ever convince you to watch that?" Nyssa asks very amused imagining several scenarios.

"Told me it might spark inspiration on how to win you back," he admits.

"You sat through 'The Notebook,' for me?" Nyssa asks genuinely touched by the sacrifice.

"I'd do anything for you," he tells her but Nyssa looks away unable to help thinking, 'Yeah anything besides picking up a phone call.'

He must be able to guess her inner thoughts from her reaction and how she just retreated into herself just now because he reaches forward and holds her hand.

"I'm sorry, I know I let you down, you needed me and I wasn't there and nothing that I say will change that, trust me spent the whole flight over trying to brainstorm some perfect magic sentence."

"No luck?" Nyssa asks.

"Nope," Damon admits feeling pretty defeated right now.

Nyssa squeezes his hand back, "Maybe there is no magic sentence or grand gesture that will fix this but I do believe it can be fixed," she tells him inspiring some hope.

"Yeah?" He asks looking at her with some serious heart eyes.

"Yeah," she tells him before leaning over and resting her head on his chest laying down against him.

He strokes her hair and presses a kiss on top her head.

"I say we stay here just you and me until we do just that," she tells him.

Damon smiles and takes her wine glass setting it down on the ground next to his and rearranges them slightly into a more comfortable position grabbing a blanket from the chair behind him and draping it over her as he rests his head back on a cushion he moved to lay by the sofa armrest.

"Sounds perfect, nowhere else I'd rather be," he says stroking her back and arms just cherishing he finally has her in his arms again.

"You and me... forever and ever right?" She says holding him a bit tighter as she burrows her face in his neck breathing in the scent of him finally feeling like she had come home.

"And then some," he promises kissing her forehead again.
