I decided to call my lawyer today to ensure there will be no legal troubles with me choosing to leave Diego with her father while she's away. Taking an eleven and a half year work trip isn't exactly common when it comes to guardianship.
Fortunately it does not seem like it will be much of an issue, which is the last thing I'd want. To be fair I doubt Alex would even want custody of the boy, he rarely accepts when I offer him an opportunity to visit. The only reason I even bother is because I think it's good for a boy to grow up with a father.
To be honest my Dad has always been more of a father figure to him.
Today I had to stay at work late so my dad picked up Diego. When I got home, they were playing baseball on the front lawn. To my surprise none of our windows or the neighbors' windows were broken. Still, I instituted a new rule mandating they go to the park next time.
