We did it! We've discovered life on Europa.

I'm just kidding. I considered sending a message like that as some sort of response prank to my son's detention bit but I'm glad I decided not to. That would be extremely inappropriate, both in the name of science and in giving my family false hopes.

He actually did get me though, fabricating a story about having a girlfriend that my dad assured me later was nothing to worry about. I don't know why I worry about these things. Even if he did have a girlfriend, he's thirteen after all.

Still as a mother you want to be protective of your kids, even if you really can't because your millions of miles away.

Still on the life front things are looking positive. With more signs of oxygen and even a small sample of carbon in the water at the second drill the signs of life are becoming significantly more promising. However, it seems unlikely that we will discover it without using the submarines. With the Chinese team here setting up their equipment there is more pressure to get into the water, as soon as it is deemed safe. Right now, the next step is waiting for the drill's hole to become wide enough to fit the sub.
