My son has been asking me about what is going on with our mission and the Chinese one. Apparently, the tensions between our missions have become of global interest. Back on Earth tensions had risen as the United States of America has warned China to stay clear of our team, pointing out claiming Europa was not within China's rights.

Unsurprisingly this was all over the news. According to Diego this is the most he has seen about it on the news. There were one or two stories when we first landed, but according to him there wasn't much after that. Now however it was the only thing on the news.

I found it a little disappointing. It would be nice to know that there is more coverage about some of the scientific discoveries we have made, like confirming the liquid ocean below the surface was water or discovering traces of carbon and oxygen in that water. Not even the ice quake has gotten any attention.

Fortunately, there didn't seem to be many updates with our team and the Chinese team. They were still insisting we deliver them a portion of food and our medicine.

We've speculated amongst our group that they may be lacking enough food and they were desperate. Starving in a hostile environment like Europa with no chance of finding food must be a brutal feeling. It could also inspire desperation, which we were worried about. If their need for food was that critical there was only one place on this rock to find it, and that was not a situation we wanted to find ourselves in.

The request for medicine was also interesting. It's possible their team was dealing with some sort of outbreak. If that was the case, we needed to be sure that whatever ailment was affecting them did not come in contact with. While its sound's concerning, especially considering how easy diseases spread on Earth, there is not too much to worry about.

We breathe our own filtered air here on Europa. There is no scenario where their team would be breathing our air so there was no threat of contamination. If there ever was contact, it would be out there where all parties would be wearing space suits.

Still, as a human being I could not help but fall for the survivors on the Chinese mission. It was not their fault they were starving and dying, stranded out here. Considering we had excess food due to the three members of our team who had passed away it felt wrong not doing anything to help. It was in our best interest to avoid that team entirely if possible.
