Today is Diego's birthday. This is the first one that I have missed due to this mission. Actually, that's incorrect. This is the first one I've missed while I was conscious.
I made sure to shoot him a birthday video the moment I woke up in the morning. It wasn't that I had to rush it so I wouldn't forget, it was more so because I was so excited to have something to do. As of now we are still waiting for there to be an update on the drill situation.
During my birthday video for Diego Lee actually walked in on me singing and joined along. It gave him a little something to do as well. He actually did a flip at the end and was trying to tell me how to do one at the end.
I could tell that in his response later in the evening that Diego was super excited to have gotten an extended video of me. He had some critiques for my flip attempt. I admit watching it back that it can use some work.
Later that night my dad sent me a video of him blowing out the candles. Thirteen. I truly could not believe it. He'd grown up so fast. He officially was a teenager! Literally just a few months ago we'd celebrated his seventh birthday. On the bright side I didn't feel as old as I would have if this day had come with the cryogenic freezing chamber.
It hurt to watch the video. I should have been there. Not only was I not there but it hurt to see that Alex was. I'm trying to accept that his presence is good for Diego, but it was hard to watch him with his hand on the shoulder of Diego as he blew out the candle.
I'm working on feeling less jealous, but it will take some time.
