I feel sick. I feel sick. James is unconscious but I think he is going to pull through. There is a nasty cut on his arm that froze pretty bad due to exposure from the elements, but I was able to get him inside before it was too late.
I just don't know what I am going to do if he doesn't pull through. I can't be on Europa alone. I can't imagine losing James.
Lee is fucking dead. It all happened so fast.
When the man from the Chinese camp arrived, he was talking mainly on the radio. "You bastards," Lee translated. "Let me in," he shouted.
We did not exit from the basecamp. We were hoping the man would simply give up and wander off. Then he grabbed a wrench and began to hammer our reserve power tanks. At that point Commander Hunt made the decision for us to go out and confront the man. He asked me to stay inside for safety, but there was no way I was doing that. Besides, three would be more intimidating than two. I promised to stand behind Hunt if it made him feel safe. I kind of like that he was trying to protect me.
When we got out there the Chinese man continued to swing at the oxygen tank. Finally, Lee said something from the comms to stop him.
"You have to let me go with you. I don't want to die here," he translated for the man. He responded that there was no room on the rocket and there was not enough food. Right away I noticed black discoloration on the man's face from the left side of his mouth to his eye. His eye was bloodshot red.
He coughed violently, and I noticed faint traces of blood on the glass of his helmet. "I need to go back home," Lee translated for him.
Hunt told Lee to respond that we were sorry and there was nothing we could do to help. When he did the man snapped and smashed Lee in the helmet with the wrench, shattering the glass of his helmet and killing Lee instantly. Watching my friend die, with his face puffing up and turning bloodshot red I nearly fainted.
James charged the man and after a brief struggle he had stolen the wrench and bashed through the man's helmet and smashed the guy's head in. Watching my boyfriend kill a man like that made my stomach churn, but there was no time to reflect on it. As he stood up, I instantly noticed the bloody icicle protruding from his arm and rushed him back into the camp where I raced him to the medical room.
