Dad had heart surgery. When were they supposed to tell me?
I've been messaging back and forth all day as quick as the time to transmit messages would allow me. Obviously, this came as a shock to me.
My dad has assured me that it was not a big deal. The surgery was to replace damage to a valve that he had since he was younger and that it was routine and would not require any further surgeries. That comes as a relief.
They did not put anything about it in the messages while I was under because they did not want me to worry about it when I woke up. Obviously, I'm a bit unsettled about the news, but my dad has assured me that the surgery was three years ago, and it was nothing for me to worry about. To be fair, I could have never noticed based on the most recent pictures they'd sent me.
It's crazy to think about. Leaving for this mission I didn't once think that Dad might not be around by the time, I made it home. He'd always been such a strong figure in my life. He was like Superman. It goes to show you can't take anything for granted.
When I went under for the cryogenic freezing process, I was worried about side effects. I did not once think that I could die in that machine. I'm sure Richard didn't either.
