"Adventure land!" That was Diego's response when I asked him where he wanted to have his 8th birthday party. He didn't even take a second to think about it.
Normally I'd try to talk him into something a little cheaper, but I've never said yes to something faster in my life this time around. It's the bare minimum I can do. Besides, while I am not doing this mission for the money, I must say this mission has come along with a hefty raise and bonus.
The party is set for the 26th, two days after Diego's birthday. He was a bit confused why I didn't schedule it for the actual day, but after explaining a weekend would be better for guests and that I needed enough time to send out the invitations so his friends from school could come for the third time he seemed to be on board.
He's excited that his grandpa will be coming to stay with us for the week as well. I'm glad he has a great relationship with his grandfather. It's going to make this whole process much easier.
For me on the other hand, this week is going to be hell. I don't like lying to my father, but this weekend should be about Diego, not us fighting.
I will find the right time to break it to him soon enough.
