The sun was high in the sky, casting its warm golden rays over the quiet riverbank. It was rare for YN to find time to relax these days, so when she had the chance, she took full advantage of it. She sat at the edge of the river, her feet dipping into the cool water, eyes closed, and face turned toward the sun. It felt like a small moment of peace in an otherwise chaotic world.

But today, something felt... off. YN couldn't quite put her finger on it. It wasn't the world around her, but something internal. A nagging feeling she couldn't shake.

She sighed, trying to focus on the sound of the water flowing, the chirping of birds, the rustle of trees in the wind. She didn't want to think about it.

That was when she heard his voice.

"YNN?"

She opened her eyes and turned toward the sound of her brother's familiar voice. Stefan stood a few feet away, his hands tucked into his pockets as he took in the sight of her.

"You okay?" Stefan asked, his brow furrowed in concern.

YN forced a smile, not wanting to worry him. "Yeah, just enjoying the sun. It's a good day for it." She waved a hand dismissively, hoping he wouldn't press the issue.

Stefan wasn't fooled. He knew his sister better than that. But, sensing she didn't want to talk about whatever was bothering her, he decided not to push. He shrugged, sitting down next to her on the grass with a soft huff.

"Well, I'm not going to argue with that. You're right-this is the first real quiet day we've had in a while." He leaned back on his hands, eyes scanning the horizon.

They sat in a companionable silence for a while, just taking in the peaceful surroundings. The sounds of the river, the rustling leaves, and the distant calls of birds filled the air. It was a brief escape from the weight of their supernatural lives, and it felt... nice.

YN glanced at her brother out of the corner of her eye. There was something comforting about his presence-something that made it easier to ignore the worries that were circling in her mind.

But it didn't last long.

Stefan suddenly stood up with a mischievous grin on his face. "You know, you're sitting in just the right spot. Sun shining on you, a peaceful breeze blowing through your hair."

"Uh-oh, what are you planning?" YN asked, narrowing her eyes as her brother moved toward the water.

"Oh, nothing much," he said, a teasing smile tugging at his lips. "Just a little splash of fun."

Before YN could react, Stefan kicked off his shoes and waded into the shallow water, turning back toward her. With a playful twinkle in his eye, he scooped up a handful of water and splashed it toward her.

YN yelped, barely moving in time to avoid getting drenched. "Stefan!" she exclaimed, laughing despite herself. "What are you, five?"

Stefan smirked. "A hundred and sixty-five. But, ya know, who's counting?"

With a grin, YN stood, making her way to the water and grabbed a handful of water herself. She hurled it back at him, and the playful battle began.

For the next several minutes, the two of them went back and forth, splashing and laughing, each trying to outwit the other. YN even tried to make a sneaky move, running toward the water's edge to splash him from behind, but Stefan caught her just in time, twisting her around as she gasped in surprise.

"Gotcha!" he teased, his voice light and filled with the joy of the moment.

They both collapsed onto the grass in a pile of laughter, their earlier worries momentarily forgotten.

"You're impossible," YN said between breaths, wiping the water from her face.

Stefan leaned back, his hands behind his head as he stared up at the sky. "Yeah, but you love me anyway." He shot her a wink.

YN shook her head, a genuine smile on her face now. "You really are a pain in the ass, you know that?"

Stefan just chuckled. "Yeah, but I'm your pain in the ass."

YN rolled her eyes, but the playful smile tugging at her lips betrayed her. "Yeah, something like that anyways." She nudged him with her shoulder, but it wasn't enough to knock him off balance. "Honestly, I don't know why I put up with you."

Stefan laughed and leaned over, flicking a bit of water at her face. "Oh, come on. You love me. Admit it."

YN wiped her face with the back of her hand, grinning as she shot him a side-eye. "Love you? That's debatable at this moment. But I'd really love it if you stopped being such a child for five seconds."

"Oh, come on. You know you secretly enjoy my childish side," Stefan teased, his voice oozing with mischief.

YN was about to respond when Stefan moved faster than she could react. With one swift motion, he grabbed her by the waist and, before she could protest, lifted her off the ground.

"Stefan! What the hell-" YN yelped as he carried her toward the river.

"Just a little water therapy," Stefan said with a grin, his arms strong but playful as he waded into the shallow water. "You'll thank me later."

"No, no, no!" YN laughed, trying to squirm out of his grip. "I swear, if you-"

And before she could finish, Stefan tossed her into the water with a laugh.

"Stefan Salvatore!" YN shouted as she came up spluttering, water dripping from her hair and face. "You're so dead."

Stefan stood on the shore, hands on his hips, laughing loudly. "You should've known better than to challenge me to a water fight, YNN."

YN wiped the water from her eyes, shooting him a glare. But underneath her irritation was a smile she couldn't hide. "Oh, you think you're so funny, huh? Last I checked you were the one that started it."

She took a step back, eyes narrowing as she calculated her next move. Stefan had clearly gotten the upper hand-so far-but she was far from out of tricks.

"You're in trouble now," YN warned as she started wading toward him, determination in her eyes.

Stefan took a step back, a playful grin still on his face. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Before he could react, YN lunged, her hands splashing a whole wave of water in his direction. She didn't stop there-she followed up with another splash, and then another, until Stefan was completely soaked.

He staggered back, laughing and trying to shield himself from the onslaught. "Alright, alright. I admit defeat. But just remember I can make your life miserable when I want to."

YN grinned, dripping wet but victorious. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, big bro." She stuck her tongue out playfully.

Stefan smirked and raised an eyebrow. "Just wait until the next time."

"I'm counting on it," she said, stepping out of the water and grabbing her towel from the grass. "But next time, you're going in first. Got it?"

"Fine. You get this round." Stefan held up his hands in mock surrender, but his eyes sparkled with amusement. "But this isn't over."

"Promises, promises." YN chuckled as she dried herself off, her heart lighter than it had been all day.

They both stood there, laughing at each other, the playful banter bouncing back and forth between them, making the world feel right again. The river, the sun, and the moment were enough to wash away the tension they had been carrying with them-at least for a little while.
