Building with Cisco

Seeing Barry

S.T.A.R Labs/ Jitters/ Keystone Ironworks

        Several days had gone by and I thought everything was going normal. Barry helped to save the day, lots and lots of training and Cisco just finished helping me build a dampening structure to build a room around it. We were now standing in the basement looking at the room, I looked like a completely normal room with its own connected bath.

"This is gonna be perfect." I said
"So what you are just going to live down here?" he asked
"Only when it gets too bad." I said
"Adaline." Cisco said
"Let's go grab Jitters." I said
"It's nine at night." he said
"Belly Burger?" I asked
"Only if you are buying." Cisco said
"Deal." I agreed

We raced up the stairs, letting me change and then out to the car, off to Belly burger. We finally grabbed our food and decided to go back to S.T.A.R. Labs and finish some of the new things Cisco was tampering with as I did my work emails. I was looking over physical files of transcripts when Caitlin and Cisco followed me out of the elevator while arguing about something.

"What are we debating about?" Wells asked
"The average number of bugs Barry swallows in his day of running." Cisco adds
I laughed covering my face.
"I look forward to seeing you accept your Nobel." Wells said
We walked into the Cortex seeing a beaten and bloodied Barry lying on the floor.
"Barry!" I yelled
I ran over throwing the file onto the table before racing to him, slid on my knees landing next to him.
"Barry?" Caitlin called out following me
I touched his knee when he gasped in pain before moaning. I looked at Caitlin before we quickly got to work moving all the medical equipment out into the middle of the Cortex. After we had helped him out of his suit and onto the bed, we cleaned him up and took multiple x-rays just in case. Caitlin was finishing up putting a full hand splint on Barry.

"13 fractures, that's a new record and that's just in your hand. You also have a concussion, three cracked ribs and a bruised spleen. Even with your powers, you'll need a couple hours to heal." Cait explained
I looked at Barry, who was in deep thought.
"Hey." I whispered placing my hand on his cheek
He looked at me snapping out of his thoughts, smiling. I turned to clean some stuff up.
"What exactly did you hit?" Dr.Wells asked
"A man. A big, bad man. His skin changed when I hit him, like it turned to metal." Barry said
"Interesting. A man of Steel." wells said
"Superman." I laughed
"So you went after a meta-human alone? Dude, why didn't you call us?" Cisco asked
"I didn't know what he was. Besides I was off-duty." he said
I stopped what I was doing, dropped the item I picked up and turned looking directly at him. I raised my eyebrow feeling my face smolder.
"Hmm." Caitlin said
He turned to her before looking back at me. I looked at him, sucking on my teeth before popping my hip out.
"You're lucky, he didn't knock out your teeth. Those puppies don't grow back." Cisco said
"Strange thing is, I feel like I know him." Barry said
"What do you mean?" Caitlin asked
I ignored how annoyed I was with him and turned back to my cleaning.
"He said something that was familiar, but he's going to hurt someone if we don't stop him. So how do I fight a guy that's made out of steel." Barry answered
"We will find a way, tonight, you heal." Wells said
"Yeah." Barry huffed leaning back
I gathered what I could before walking away to the medical storage. The rest of the night was filled with cleaning, building and dropping off physical files at the hospital.

        The next morning, I walk into the cortex with a to-go cup already sitting at my desk. I looked around, confused. Cisco came walking in holding a tablet.
"Did you bring me Jitters?" I asked
"Oh no, Barry dropped it off this morning." he said
"Oh okay." I replied getting started on emails
A couple hours later, Barry walked in with a pissed look on his face. I ignored it and continued with my task of finishing the new motor for the treadmill.
"Guys the guy that robbed those ATM's and kicked my ass was my old nemesis, Tony Woodward." Barry said
I gasped dropping the motor directly on my foot, causing me to yelp in pain.
"Adaline?" Caitlin said
A stream of cuss words flowed out of my mouth like a drunken sailor as I hoped to the rolling chair behind the console.
"Tony Fucking Woodward." I said
"Who's Tony Woodward?" Caitlin asked
"My childhood nemesis and her ex boyfriend" Barry said
They all looked at me.
"Do you have a thing for villains? Cause that is now two or two." Cisco explained
"First of all, no." I said pointing at Cisco
"Second of all, I broke up with him for you." I said looking to Barry
"Your childhood nemesis is now an unstoppable meta-human, that is seriously messed up." Cisco said
"I had a childhood nemesis, Lexi La Roche. She used to put gum in my hair." Caitlin said in disgust
"Jake Puckett, If i didn't let him copy my homework, he'd give me a swirly." Cisco said
"Alana Johnson, she used to trip me down the stairs and once in high school, she tried to say I was sleeping with an art teacher." I said
They all looked at me, confused.
"What?" I asked
"That is two very different rational things." Cisco said
"I survived, didn't i?" I asked
"Now that we all established that we're all uber-nerds, aside from Adaline. What are we gonna do about Tony?" Barry asked
"Oh no." I said
"Glad you asked. We are going to train you, man. Karate kid style." Cisco smiled
Cisco walked into the next room unveiling the bot that we were working on last night.
"Behold!" Cisco announced
Barry looked to me then back at the bot in confusion.
"I call him Girder." Cisco said
"For the record, not my idea." Caitlin added
"Fighting is physics. It's not about strength and it's not about size. It's about energy and power. Channel your speed the right way and you can totally take this bad boy down. Now obviously your Girder is a moving target, so." Cisco said grabbing the control box
Cisco pressed a button moving in two different motions. Barry looks at me and Caitlin, worried.
"I have ice and bandages standing by." Caitlin said
"It will be okay." I said
He took a deep breath before walking toward the bot, ready to face it. Cisco started up Girder as Barry was racing around it throwing combos, before Barry punched in head on where it punched him in the shoulder and then came back and hit him in the side. Barry flew back, clutching his shoulder, groaning.
"I'm pretty sure I just dislocated my shoulder." Barry groaned
Caitlin and I moved Barry to the Cortex, sitting him on the medical bed, Caitlin began to move Barry's arm causing him to groan.
"This is going to be quick but extremely painful." Caitlin said
His phone rang revealing Eddie's name. I gave him an apologetic look before he rolled his eyes.
"Speaking of pain, Eddie. Hey. Great, see you in a sec." Barry said in pain
He hung the phone up looking at the two of us.
"Okay let's do this." Barry said laying down
"So Barry, when you said you were off-duty last night, You weren't visiting Iris again. You know in disguise because that would be reckless and a little creepy." Caitlin asked
I bit my lip trying to conceal my smile. He looked at me before shaking his head.
"No." he said
"Good." Caitlin said ripping Barry's arm toward her
Barry lets out a painful scream turning away from us, I flitched hearing him in pain. Minutes later, Barry recovered and was out the door on his way to meet Eddie at the scene. I decided it was time for a trip to Jitters.
"Cait, I'm heading to Jitters, want anything?" I asked
"Just a muffin, I made coffee here." She said
I smiled before making my way to Jitters.
