The team watched as Adaline walked back into the Cortex avoiding everyone's eye contact going straight to her office. She shut the doors and after a few moments the lights were turned off. Barry finally looked over to Caitlin before looking at Cisco. Cisco pointed toward the double doors with his head before the three of them went off. Barry took a deep breath before walking over to her doors. He knocked lightly.
"Lini? Adaline?" He asked while still knock
After several seconds of not hearing anything, he opened the doors revealing a dark empty office. He stood there confused as he flipped the lights on. Her leather jacket was still on the back of her chair and her phone and keys laid on the desk. Barry's face contorted, confused and fearful. Barry walked out of her office.
"Guys?" Barry called out
Cisco and Caitlin came walking back in, confused.
"She is gone." Barry said
"What?" Cisco asked confused
"She is gone. Her bag is missing but her jacket, phone and keys are still here. How could- how did-did she?" Barry was questioning
Cisco and Caitlin stopped and turned to Wells who was wheeling in.
"Did you know she could do this?" Caitlin asked
"Do what?" Wells questioned
"Teleport through the darkness, the shadows?" She asked
"I had a hunch." Wells said
"Once again everyone, In science we share!" Caitlin shouted walking away
"She could be anywhere." Cisco replied
Barry was standing there staring at the floor before he took off sending a wave of loose papers and wind in the direction he was going.
"Go get her." Cisco whispered with a smile
I was sitting in the dark of my home when there was a knock on my door, I walked over looking through the front window seeing Barry's chest. I slowly opened the door stepping out onto the porch, seeing him standing there worried.
"Yes Barry?" I questioned"You can teleport now? When were you going to tell me that?" He asked
"So I have to tell you things but you can keep stuff from us, me included." I said
"Adaline, I should have told you. I should have said something." Barry said getting closer
"Barry." I said putting my hand on his chest to stop him
He looked at me confused.
"I'm done. I can't help you be the streak anymore, because if you die, that's in my hands. I can't live with that. I can't live-" I explained
I felt tears fall down my face.
"If this is about what Joe said-" Barry said
"It is Barry, we lied to him. I could have told him but I knew it wasn't mine to tell. So I'm done, I need you to tell Dr. Wells I'm going to need a couple days." I said
"Adaline." Barry said
"I am sorry Barry." I said turning to go inside
"I can't do this without you." He said grabbing my arm
"And I can't do this knowing it can kill you." I said
There was silence.
"Goodnight Barry." I said slipping in the house and leaned against the door
There was silence before I heard a giant gust of wind hit my door indicating that Barry had left. I felt tears fall from my eyes, I opened them seeing all the furniture floating in the living room. I huffed knowing that there was no way of fixing this till my emotions calmed down.
The next several hours were brutal, just hours of tears and muffled sobs and by the time all the furniture finally touched the floor it was three in the morning and I was exhausted. The next morning was even worse, my eyes opened at six am and wouldn't stay closed. I walked down to the kitchen and realized I was out of tea and I was unable to head to Jitters, so I just dealt with a withdrawal headache. I decided to get started on the overflow of emails and work I had to get through. It was now about 1ish when my laptop dinged with an alert. I sat up, reading "Armed Gunman at STAGG." My eyes widened thinking of Barry and the team but I stopped. I wasn't part of that anymore, I couldn't. I exited out of the alert quickly trying to focus back on work. Several hours passed, with a few and far snacks in between the clock said six pm. I was still working when I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to find Joe standing there with a to-go cup from Jitters. We hadn't spoken from the night before and I didn't expect to see him here so soon.
"Joe?" I questioned
"Adaline." He replied
We stood there staring at each other.
"May I come in?" He asked
"Oh, of course." I said stepping aside
He walked in seeing the furniture had been moved.
"Moved some stuff around?" he asked
"Need something new." I said swiftly
"Oh, this is for you." He said handing me the cup
I smiled, grabbing it from him, taking a drink.
"Thank you." I said
"Did you know that Wells knew?" Joe asked
I shook my head, he nodded back to me.
"Wells told me you quit." He said
"I didn't quit, I just couldn't be part of Team Streak anymore." I replied
I took a seat on the couch placing my cup on the coffee table, I brought my legs up under me as he walked over taking a seat besides me. We sat in silence, pondering on what the discussion was about.
"Barry needs us. It's not just me, Beauty. He needs you too." Joe said
I felt tears pricking my eyes.
"I can't do that, I can't go back there knowing that if he dies it's on my hands." I said
"It's not just your hands, we are a team and Barry isn't going to die because he has the most brilliant, sarcastic, funniest little lady in his corner and nothing is going to stop that." Joe explained
"I can't lose him, Joe. not again. I can't live without him." I whispered
"Then don't." He said
I smiled at him, nodding. He pulled me in for a hug, rubbing my back.
"Now go get dressed." Joe said
I ran upstairs quickly changed into a sweatshirt, leggings, long socks and sneakers before throwing on a baseball cap.
"Barry is going to need us to defeat this clone guy." Joe said
I stopped midway down the stairs, face covered in confusion.
"Clone guy?" I questioned
"I'll explain in the car." Joe said grabbing his jacket
