Episode 8:
Adaline walked into the cortex that morning feeling slightly different, there was something in the air, something that made her feel off. She placed her bag down next to her computer, almost dropping her tea, but catching it in time.
"Oh, not today Satan." she whispered
"Are you okay, Dellie?" Cisco asked
"I don't know, I woke up feeling all weird." Adaline said walking to the console
Adaline took a seat next to Cisco pulling up Barry's vitals as Cisco sat in front of the GPS.
"Barry, Bank Robbery in progress at Cunningham and Sampere." Cisco called out
"Got it." Barry responded
"Wait, that's where I bank." Cailtin said walking in
"Once super thieves showed up, I went mattress." Cisco said
"Once my grandmother died and I got the house, I took my half and stuck it in the family safe." Adaline replied
The two stared at her.
"Family safe?" They asked
"Next movie night, I'll show you." Adaline said looking back at the monitor
They heard that the guy got away and police had arrived on the scene, so Adaline turned to her own personal laptop signing some papers and reading over files for the next few hours. Barry came walking into the cortex around lunch time telling them about the bank robbery. He thinks it might be a meta, so Adaline stares at him confused.
"Anger, Hate, Aggression." Wells announced
"A jedi craves not these things." Cisco said in his yoda voice
Cisco looked around, frowning.
"No one is feeling that quote?" Cisco asked
"I liked the quote." Adaline whispered squeezing his shoulder
"Everybody in the bank went total savage for, like five minutes and then they were fine again." Barry said near wells
"Anger can be a powerful emotion." Wells said
"Oh I know." Adaline said taking a seat
"If this meta-human can engender irrational feelings of anger in his victims, he can do alot of damage." Wells said
"Detective West helped me get a copy of the cat scans the hospital did on everyone at the bank." Caitlin explained walking in
"Oh that's why Sandra called me." Adaline mumbled
Caitlin pulled them up as we all turned to the larger monitors, on the walls beside the suit display.
"Hey, that's the emotions part of the brain, they're still showing signs of being overwhelmed." Adaline said looking closely
"Particularly the area that controls executive function. That's the part of the brain that stops people from doing whatever random and potentially destructive thing that pops into their head." Caitlin explained
"Oh, we are so lucky that didn't happen to me." Adaline added
"Oh we know." Cisco said walking toward Cailtin
"Hey, not needed." she pointed
"How do you think the meta does it to them?" Barry asked
"That's the ½ million dollar question." Caitlin said
Barry pulls his phone out, reading it carefully.
"Hey, if you guys figure it out, just give me a call, okay?" Barry said still staring at his phone
Caitlin and Adaline made eye contact before she looked back at Barry.
"Is the Flash off to another rooftop rendezvous with Iris?" Caitlin asked
"No." He said
She gave him a look.
"Yeah, but she probably wants to ask me-- I mean you know him--about meta-human stuff for her blog." Barry said
"Do you want some advice?" Caitlin asked
"It's not like he'll listen anyway." Adaline said leaving
"No matter what I say, I'm getting advice, right?" He said
"Don't get involved, as the flash or yourself. You don't want to be the blame for their breakup." Caitlin explained
"Okay, I hear you. Adaline said the same thing to me a couple weeks ago." Barry said
"Because she is both your guy's friend and doesn't want to see you both in pain." Caitlin added
"Yeah, no worries about that. The Iris boat sailed a long time ago." Barry said before leaving
"Can we all agree that he actually likes Adaline but still thinks it is love for Iris?" Cisco asked
"Shut up Cisco." Caitlin said before walking out
Adaline walks back in several minutes later with bags of Big Belly Burger. They all stopped to look at her.
"Yes?" Adaline asked
"You good?" Cisco asked
"Yeah, just gonna eat in the other room. I got a bunch of files to work through." Adaline said grabbing her bag and walking out
Caitlin and Cisco look at each other.
"Do you want Adaline or Barry?" Caitlin asked
"Barry, 100%. I don't understand women." Cisco said
Caitlin nodded before walking in the direction Adaline went. She walked into the room seeing Adaline curled up in a rolling chair, balancing a file on her knees as she ate her Belly burger with her hands.
"Hey." Caitlin says knocking
Adaline places her burger down, grabbing the file before turning.
"Hey." She says stunned
"Are you okay?" Caitlin asked
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Adaline replied
"Just because we all noticed how you are reacting to Barry seeing Iris as the Flash. Plus the last couple months, there has been a change, you seem more open and happy and then Iris started writing to the streak. I'm just gonna ask once, "Do you like Barry?" Caitlin asked
There was a long pause from the dark-haired girl, she stared at one of her best friends, finding the words to explain to her how she is feeling, but all that came to her mind was.
"Yes." Adaline said flatly
Caitlin's eyes grew wide and her mouth flew open.
"Oh, I didn't think this was going to be that easy." Caitlin said
"Why lie? I have liked Barry Allen since I was in third grade. Joe is the only one that knows, you can't tell anyone." Adaline said
Adaline looks at her food grabbing french fry.
"Okay." Caitlin whispered
"Caitlin, Adaline, can you come to the Cortex?" Cisco said over the PA
"Let's go." Adaline said getting up
