The two women moved out of the way, making room for their friend.
"There have been reports of some sort of animal down in the sewers." Iris said
"Mm, Alligators." Cisco said "Oh yeah." Adaline agreed
The two looked around at the confused looks, they looked at one another.
"C.H.U.D.S" Cisco said
"R.O.U.S.es?" Adaline asked
"Are we the only ones who watch movies around here?" Cisco asked
Iris turned back to the computer ignoring the two clicking away.
"Uh, a few months ago, two sewer workers went missing. The search party reported hearing strange animal-like noises down in the tunnels." Iris said
"Where exactly did they go missing?" Barry asked
"Uh, Fifth Avenue and Tenth Street." Iris said "There's an access point to the sewers about two blocks east of that intersection." Cisco said
"I'll start there." Barry said "Not alone. I'm coming too." Joe said "Huh, wading through miles of rates, roaches, and human excrement-- count me out." Cisco said The group all looked at Cisco, his face dropped as he looked forward. "Count me in." Cisco said
"He's your monkey." Joe said "Way to be a team player Cisco. Wanna join them Mateo?" Adaline asked "I'm good up here. I'm not used to telepathic gorillas or meta-humans yet." Mateo replied
The three women were sitting in the Cortex, Mateo left running to grab a coffee and call work. Caitlin was typing away watching Cisco's helmet camera as Adaline was looking over different equations and blueprints for a new set of cuffs.
"Thanks for sticking up for me." Iris said The two turn looking at her. "Of course. For what it's worth, Barry feels really terrible about lying to you." Caitlin said
"He should and so should you." Iris said looking to Adaline
"Plus you lied to, Your fiancé?" Iris said "Ronnie, Yes. I thought he died in the Particle Accelerator explosion, but turns out he just...caught on fire." Caitlin said Adaline looked up from her pages, her heart sinking a little.
"Oh, but he's okay?" Iris asked
"Yeah, he is." Caitlin said
"Good, I'm glad." Iris replied The three sat in silence when Iris turned to her friend. "What about Mateo? How did you keep it from him?" Iris asked
"We didn't- I didn't tell Mateo until he got here a couple days ago. I didn't tell him because I was terrified of how he would look at me or even react. I couldn't accept it if my young brother looked at me differently. So I kept it a secret and I regret nothing because he would have moved back in an instant." Adaline explained
She nodded, Adaline gave a small smile before looking back down at her notes. Iris and Caitlin looked toward the screen, seeing nothing but Cisco's feet and the sewage water he was walking through. The three continued down the sewer line, Cisco lighting a flair every so often. "I can't believe I'm down here looking for a supernatural gorilla. I'm terrified of regular gorillas." Joe said The group continued forward as they heard some banging up ahead. Cisco walked forward, shushing them,
"What was that?" Cisco asked Adaline's eyes looked up from the page, now concerned. Cisco's moves forward with Joe and Barry, lighting another flair. Adaline now placed her file down, leaning closer in between the girls trying to get a better look.
"Hey guys, look at this." Cisco said pointing
In Cisco's head cam, revealed markings on the walls, writing. The girls leaned in closer, reading the writing.
"Grodd." Iris said "Looks like they're in the right place." Adaline said "Somebody want to tell me what we're looking at here?" Joe asked
"Grodd. He's evolving, he's getting smarter." Barry said "Getting smarter. Great." Joe said sarcastically
The three walked further when a snarling sound echoed behind them. They turned around, flashing their lights down the line. The water rippled as something was coming toward them. "If I hadn't seen Jurassic Park, I wouldn't be nearly as frightened right now." Cisco said "I would." Adaline mumbled
A growl echoed.
"Get out of there." Caitlin said "I'm going in." Adaline said getting up
The two women grabbed her wrists. "Not yet." Caitlin said
"So if he's getting smarter, you think he might be getting bigger too?" Joe asked
A growl echoed once more as the rumbling of the pipes caused them to look around.
"That must have been a truck passing over, right?" Joe asked
Snarls raced toward them as the girls lost visual and couldn't see anything.
"Cisco?!" Adaline and Caitlin called out Adaline ripped over her bracelets, disappearing out of the room. Adaline appeared between the men in the sewer lines, looking at them. "Are you okay?" Adaline asked Barry shot down one of the lines, looking around before he dropped down, groaning in pain.
"Barry!" Joe called out
A loud roar echoed as Barry was thrown across the sewer landing on the floor unconscious. "Barry!" Adaline yelled
Joe cocked his gun, ready as Adaline raced over to Barry. "Barry. Barry, I need you to wake up." Adaline said
Joe shot several rounds trying to hit the beast. Cisco was trying to help Adaline as there was nothing they could do. "We gotta get out of here." Joe said
"Barry's out cold." Cisco said
"Go. I'll get Grodd." Adaline said getting up
Cisco shakes Barry once more. "Hell no." Joe said A roar rippled through the air as the two were pulled upward. Joe, scared, dropped his gun as Adaline dropped her cuffs. They each let out a scream as they disappeared from view and away from their friends.
