Cisco and I walked into S.T.A.R Labs into the treadmill room seeing Ronnie standing there shirtless.
"Oh shit." I said loudly slapping my mouth
"Ronnie." Cisco said
I stared in shock seeing Ronnie standing there, no more long hair and worn down clothes. Ronnie looked at us, a slight annoyed look.
"Not Ronnie." Cisco said
"Martin Stein." He said placing his hand out
"Cisco Ramon." Cisco said shaking his hand
"Adaline Garcia." I smiled
"Your colleagues are in the next room, not so subtly discussing my condition." He replied
We nodded, walking toward the door, walking through stopping. I looked at Cisco before turning back around doing a double take.
"That's not creepy at all." Cisco said
"Okay, I'm not losing it." I said
"It seems like Ronnie's fight with the Flash has exacerbated the Firestorm Matrix. It's unstable, exponentially increasing the rate of fission inside his body." Wells said
"How long does he have?" Caitlin asked
"If his temperature keeps rising at the current pace, no more than a couple of hours." Well explained
"But you can fix it, right? I mean you can separate them before it's too late." Barry expressed
"Any attempt we make to separate the two of them could be catastrophic-- a nuclear explosion, and a nuclear explosion at this magnitude would level this entire city. Unless..." Wells said
"Unless what?" Barry asked
"Unless the host body was no longer functional." Wells announced
"What?" I called out
"You want to kill Ronnie?" Caitlin asked
"No, I don't want to kill Ronnie, but in this scenario, Ronnie is the host body." Wells said
"If you kill Ronnie?" I said
"You kill Stein. That's two people." Cisco said
"I don't know how else to stop it and my guess is that if Ronnie and Professor Stein knew the consequences that we were all facing they would make the same decision. It's two lives for millions." Wells said
"This is Stein's work, this is his legacy and you just want us to throw it away?" I asked
He stared at me, unmoved.
"You.." I said walking toward him
I felt two hands grab me, one on my hand the other around my waist.
"Can you give us a minute?" Caitlin asked
I huffed as I turned away walking out of the cortex away as far from Wells as possible. I took a lap walking back toward Cisco seeing him standing in the hall.
"Joe's argument is sounding more and more convincing." I said
"I know." He replied
"So I guess we're doing it?" I asked
"Yeah." he huffed
We walked into the testing room seeing the Professor/Ronnie is gone, Cisco and I looked at one another running to the cortex.
"You looking for the professor?" Cisco asked
"Yeah, he's gone." I said
"What do you mean? Barry asked
"He's not here at S.T.A.R Labs." I said
"Well we have to get started, Cisco, Adaline, come with me." Wells said wheeling into workshop
The three of us began trying to create this quantum splicer as fast as we could. Barry comes walking in his suit.
"You guys almost done?" Barry asked
"Hang on, Hang on." Cisco called out
"I found Stein, he's in the badlands. Middle of nowhere, 30 miles outside of Central city." Caitlin explained
"Minimum safe distance." I said
"He sacrificing himself." Wells said
"How much time does he have left?" Barry asked
"12 minutes." Cisco replied
"And...." wells said
"We're done." Cisco added pulled away pulling my glasses from my face
"What is it?" Barry asked
"This is a Quantum Splicer." Wells said
"Will it work to separate them?" Caitlin asked
"We'll know in 12 minutes." Wells said
"Love the optimism." I said sarcastically
"Now, Barry, even you can't outrun a nuclear blast, so you get this device to Professor Stein and you get yourself out of there as fast as you can." Wells said handing him the device
Caitlin grabbed the device and walked away.
"What are you doing?" Barry asked
"I'm going with you." Caitlin said grabbing her jacket
"No you're not, it's too dangerous." Barry said
"Barry doesn't know how to operate the splicer." Caitlin said
"Cisco is going to talk me through it." Barry said
"Barry." I grabbed his hand
He turned to me.
"Let her go." I whispered
He looked at me before nodding, turning to Caitlin. She looked to me mouthing "Thank you" with a smile, I nodded with a weak smile. Barry looked back at me, I squeezed his hand.
"Go." I said softly
He released my hand, grabbing Caitlin before whooshing out of the Cortex. I took a deep breath before Cisco and I rushed to the Console watching the screens. The computer chimed an alarm, Cisco looked at it, I looked over his shoulder seeing the body results, my eyes grew wide before Cisco turned to me. I knew it, I huffed out a breath, nodding,
"What is that?" Wells asked
"Uh, comm system on the fritz. I'll be right back." Cisco said walking out
I took a seat breathing myself through this intense moment. I placed my hands on the console before lying my head on them. Several minutes later, Cisco walks back causing me to sit up. We were watching the Quantum Splicer become active but something was wrong.
"He's not going to make it, he's gonna blow." Cisco said
"Get out of there, Barry, get out of there now!" Wells yelled
