Sevyn and Von hung around the same people but did not like each other. But they were just cordial. Until Von's birthday came up and Sevyn was the only friend of his that remembered.

Sevyn POV
Los Angeles, California August 16th Monday, 10:00 a.m.
As i was in class wrapping up my work for the day my nana texted me letting me know she was in the office and to pack my things.
I turned in my last work for the day and started packing my things. And Von texted me again.
von👹: i just saw nana in the office von👹: im comin witchu
sevyn🌺: sir?????😭
von👹: bring yo ass they about to call yo big headed ass on the loud speaker
Right as he sent that i heard them calling my name on the loud speaker. I put my bag over my shoulder and left out.
I went to the main office and saw my nana talking to Dayvon.
"Sir how are you even coming? Your mom is not here." I said.
"I'm 18 ma. I ca walk out whenever I want to." Dayvon said.
"Von don't do that. I want you doing your work." I said hitting his arm.
"Tomorrow ma. You ca tutor me." Von said putting his arm over my shoulder walking with me and i rolled my eyes.
We went to the car i got in the front with my nana and Dayvon got in the back.
"Your dad said he really appreciates you coming." My nana said.
"He is trying to be funny. I go to his trials." I said laughing.
"But he knows you don't like you. You sneak off and be in the bathroom until it's time for him to go." My nana said making me laugh.
"Nahhh you be hiding in the bathroom ma. You dead wrong." Von said making me laugh again.
"It's boring, be fair. They're just saying a bunch of things i already know. Just hurry up and get to the verdict is going to prison or not." I said making them laugh.
When we got there we went in and found the room and sat down in the front. I sat in the middle of my nana and Dayvon.
"Don't be sneakin off ta the bathroom. I'll find yo ass." Dayvon said.
"And you're going to end up right on trial with my dad. Try it." I said looking at him and he laughed.
When the trial started i was attentively listening but like I said. They are saying things i already know. We know he did it. Just tell me how many years he's getting, im tired.
When it was over my dad stood up and turned to face me and my nana. My nana hugged him and i hugged him too.
"Protect my baby Dayvon." My dad said before the officer started motioning him away and Dayvon nodded. I watched as he went through the door and i sighed.
"Come on baby." My nana said rubbing my back and pulling me away.
"Do you want to get some food?" My nana asked.
"Hell yeah im hungry as hell." Von said and me and my nana looked at him.
"Oh you wasnt—"
"No. Nobody was talking to you." I said and he looked the other way.
We got in the car my nana said she would take me to Barnes & Noble to cheer me up.
"Why would yo ass wanna go to a damn book store to be happy." Von said looking at me.
"And where do you go to be happy?" I said rolling my eyes.
"Yo house." He said making me and my nana laugh.
"Nice save." I said as my nana started driving.
She went to Barnes & Noble and Von opened the door for me and my nana and followed behind me as i walked around. My nana went to her section. She is always reading motivational books. My nana is the biggest manifester I've ever seen. She takes that shit SERIOUS.
"I want this book. And let me see what they have in the music section." I said taking a book off the shelf.
"You be reading romance books ma?" Von said laughing.
"Don't make fun of me." I said.
"Nah lemme see. So i ca take notes and shi." He said making me laugh. He took my book reading the back and i went over to the vinyls looking through them.
"Who you be lookin fa?" He asked.
"No one in particular. But you know an album i REALLY want. Jhene Aiko Souled Out. If i have that. I will forever be happy." I said smiling.
"You got a-what the fuck you play these on?" He said.
"A record player Von. And yes. I do have one." I said.
"Oh. Play me one when we get to the house. What's yo favorite?" He asked.
"Lemonade sounds really good on the player." I said putting some vinyls under my arm.
"Play it when we get in. Which one of these you want, i gotchu." Von said taking them from under my arm.
"I'm trying to choose between The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and The Diary of Alicia Keys." I said.
"Why? I'll get you both ma." He said looking at me and I smiled.
"You don't have to do that Dayvon. Don't do that." I said shaking my head.
"Getcho big headed ass out my face. What else you want." He said making me laugh.
I stopped looking for vinyls on purpose so Von wouldn't buy me anything else.
When i was done we found my nana who already paid for her new books. So she waited by the door for me and Von. Von paid and held my bag.
"Dayvon you may drive. I don't feel like it. We're getting Chick Fil-A." My nana said making me and Von laugh.
