Chapter 16: The Dinner

Jay's POV

It was Zane's night to cook and he did not fail. Every time Zane made food it tasted better than any food I'd ever eaten.

"I love it when it's Zane's night to cook," I said.

"Yeah, much better than what Cole made last night," Kai said.

"Anything's better than that! It glued our mouths shut!" I said.

"I enjoyed the silence," sensei Wu said.

"Y'know what me too! It was a nice break from Jay's constant talking," Kai said. I glared at him.

"I don't talk that much," I said.

Zane walked in wearing a pink apron.

"Dinner is served," he said.

I tried to hold in my laughter. I really did. But after about five second none of us could hold it in any longer, and we all burst out laughing.

Zane looked at us confused.

"What's so funny?" he asked.

"Zane, you're wearing a... My sister wouldn't even wear that!" Kai said.

"You laugh, because I take steps to ensure I am clean after cooking?" Zane asked confused.

"No! We laugh, because you came out wearing that ridiculous outfit!" Kai said.

"I guess we don't share the same sense of humor," Zane said, sounding a bit upset.

"Well, how about this," Kai said, and he quickly threw some food in my face. I was very mad.

Maybe I wouldn't have been mad if it was someone else like Nya or Cole, but it was Kai and, Kai will take any excuse to tease, or ridicule, or make fun of me. So I knew for a fact that he wasn't doing that to be funny or anything like that. He was doing it to make fun of me again, and I was tired of it.

No one else seemed to realize that though, and everyone burst out laughing again. Everyone except me. I just sat there food all over my face, glaring at Kai. He needed to learn to stop ridiculing me.

"How could you not find that funny?" Kai asked. I could understand why. Zane actually realized that all Kai did was ridicule me.

All of a sudden sensei Wu snuck behind Kai and dumped a bowl of food on his head. Kai screamed. Everyone else including me burst out laughing.

"Now you are brothers," sensei Wu said.

Soon it turned into a full on food fight. The only person not throwing food was Zane.

That's when I realized that neither Nya nor Cole were there.

"Guys, shouldn't Nya and Cole be here by now?" I asked.

"You're right! What if something happened to them?" Kai said as he began to text them his face full of worry.

My mind was already imagining all the horrible things that might've happened to them. What if they were kidnapped? Or worse?

I ran out screaming their names. Nya was my crush, and Cole was my best friend. I could not let them get hurt.
