Chapter 26: What The Fangpyres Can Do

Hebi's POV

I watched from the shadows as Jay's parents drove into their junkyard.

"And back to the grind," Jay's dad said.

"Oh, sweetie, you've been working on that thing day and night," Jay's mom said.

"Well, you never know when Jay might show up."

"Oh, you're right. You never know."

I sighed. I wished my family wanted me to come back.

One of the fangpyes ran real fast, but unfortunately Jay's dad saw him.

"Uh, Edna? Was that you?" Jay's dad asked.

"What, Ed? Are you hearing things again?" Jay's mom, Edna asked.

"Uh, you, uh, you turned on the security alarm before you left didn't ya, hun?"

Edna messed with some type of box and said, "Must be broken."

Lloyd turned off all the lights in the junkyard.

"How'd you do that?" I asked.

"Easy. I just pulled this wire," he grabbed a wire, "And cut it. And boom! The power's out. It was one of the first things I learned at Darkly's."

"Other than how to read and write." He said it so quietly I could barely hear what he'd said.

"What's read and write?" Those words were very unfamiliar to me.

"Writing is when you draw a bunch of letters and-"

"What are letters?"

"You don't know what letters are?"

"Nope. Never heard of them. Are they a type of food?"

"No! They're symbols that mean sounds. Kinda. It's hard to describe."

"If that's the case then I understand why I've never heard of them. It's kinda hard to see symbols in the dark."

"Well, you should learn how to read and write. It's very helpful. Maybe I could teach you."

"Awww. And you said you weren't nice."

"I'm not! I'm a horrible person!"

"Sorry! Sorry! I forgot that nice was offensive to you."

"Whoever's there! My son knows spinjitzu!," Jay's dad, Ed yelled.

"Wanna scare him?" I asked. Lloyd nodded.

"Boooooo! I'm a ghost!" I said in a spooky voice.

"We've come toooooo kiiiiil you for ummmm..." Lloyd said also in a spooky voice.

"For crushing our grandma's caaaaaaar!"

"Honey! Call Jay! Someone's broken in!" Ed yelled.

"How about we wait until he calls you," Lloyd said as he held a phone with a broken cord, "Mwahahahaha!"

I smiled. That was an amazing entrance.

"Surprise! We're not ghosts! We're much much worse," I said jumping on top of their trailer.

"Ed?" Edna said.

"Be strong, Edna. I won't let them hurt you," Ed comforted her.

"If we plan," the fangpyre general began.

"To attack."

"The hypnobrai."

"We'll need to grow."

"Our army." The way some of the fangpyres talked really freaked me out. Something about them switching which head they used mid conversation just seemed so spooky.

"And, uh, how do we do that?" Lloyd asked.

"Yeah. Are you gonna clone yourself somehow?" I asked excitedly. I was really excited to see how they were gonna grow their army.

"Lets just say."

"We fangpyre bite off more."

"Than we can chew." What was that supposed to mean?

"Have at it, boys!" the fangpyre general yelled.

The fangpyre began biting everything which turned everything into some kind of snake version.

"This is so cool! Can you do clothes?" I asked. I wanted some uniforms.

The fangpyre general ignored me. How rude!

"My creations! They are turning them into-" Ed began.

"An army?"

"You are correct."

"But we can also."

"Turn people too." Wait. What?

"What are you saying?" I asked," That you're going to turn them into snakes? That's taking it to far! Way to far!"

"This is how."

"We are going to."

"Grow our army."

"I don't care. You can't just do that to people. It's not nice."

"But we're not nice," Lloyd said. I sighed. Maybe he thought that, but I didn't.

"You know what I mean! I refuse to let you turn these innocent people into snakes! I might like being a snake, but I'm sure they won't."

"You either help us."

"Or we destroy you." Why was everyone threatening to kill me?

"Fine. But this still isn't right."

I turned towards Lloyd.

"Everything else is fine, but not this. I'm fine with getting revenge on my family, and destroying the ninja, and stealing candy, and eventually taking over the world. But I cross the line at hurting innocent people. Okay, Lloydie?"

Lloyd just stared at me confused.

"What I'm trying to say is I still want to take over the world with you. I just don't want to do this."

"Oh. Well......... Okay." Lloyd seemed pretty confused. I wondered why.
