Chapter 37: The Aftermath

Lloyd's POV

After we got far enough I asked the question I'd be wanting to ask the entire time.

"What happened to Hebi? Is she okay? Did she get hurt or-"

"She is fine," he said.

"Then why isn't she here?"

"She left. She said you were a weak, useless, failure who was just using the serpentine to get what you want." My heart sank.

"B-But I though she was my friend."

"So did I, but she has shown her true colors. She was a cruel brat who only cared for herself." I wasn't sure if I believed that. She'd been so nice to me. Nicer than anyone I'd met before.

I was still pretty sure she'd left. Everyone did.

I began to sob slightly. I hoped Pythor wouldn't notice.

"Floyd, do not be upset. She was not truly your friend. She was merely an insolent brat pretending to be your friend. But you have the real thing." He pointed to himself. I smiled, but I wasn't really that happy. My best friend ended up being a fake. I felt horrible.

"How about we get revenge on those jerks?" he asked. I shrugged. I didn't really care.

"Then we'll need some help. May I hold the map?"

"Sure."

"Good. Those brats won't know what hit them." I sighed.

Why did everyone leave? Why was I always left alone?

Now I was full blown crying. Pythor definitely noticed.

"Floyd, please do not cry. Remember that I am your friend. Do not get upset over the fakes."

"S-Sorry. I'm just a bit upset. I should be used to this. Everyone in my life has left. Well, except you." He smiled.

"I do not understand why. You're an amazing person." I merely shook my head.

"No, no I'm not. I fail at everything I try, and everyone hates me. I'm a total failure." I burst into tears.

"That is a total lie. From what I now about you you are one of the best people I've ever met. Please do not forget that." I smiled. But still I wasn't really sure if it was true.

Maybe there was a time I would've believed that, but after everything that had happen it just didn't seem true.

"Let us go now. I promise the constrictai and venomari are a lot less rude than that brat you used to call friend." I hoped so.
