Scale's POV
I stared at the child. He was sleeping. I noticed how small he seemed compared to the rest of the kids I'd seen. Even Hebi didn't look that small, and we didn't feed her that often.
That's when a thought occurred to me. Maybe he was malnourished. I'd only ever seen him eating candy.
"Pythor, when was the last time Lloyd ate?" I asked.
"Real food or candy?" Pythor asked. I sighed.
"Real food. Obviously."
"I don't know. He hasn't eaten anything other than candy since he freed me."
"Get him some food." My voice was loud and strict. Although I didn't really care for him, I still did not want Lloyd getting sick. I knew from experience that dealing with sick children was not fun.
"I'll get him food later. For now I need to-" Pythor was interrupted by a loud grumble from the child's stomach. Lloyd let out a loud whimper.
"Okay, maybe he does need food." Pythor quickly killed a mouse and handed it to me.
I sighed. I did not expect Lloyd to eat it. It did not seem like the type of food children eat. Especially human children.
But still Lloyd needed to eat something. This would have to do.
I gently woke up Lloyd.
"Mommy?" he asked sleepily. I chuckled.
"No, Lloyd. Scales and Pythor." He paled. I assumed he realized that he'd called me mommy.
"S-Sorry, Scales," he said. He mumbled something that I was probably not meant to hear.
"Not again." I chuckled. So he'd called someone mommy before.
Remembering that Lloyd needed to eat, I pushed the dead mouse toward him.
"What's that?" he asked.
"Food. You need to eat," I said.
"That's not food." I gave him a look.
"Yes, it is. Now eat." He stared at it nervously but after a moment finally took a small bite.
He then proceeded to eat the entire thing in five seconds.
"Told you he needed food," I said to Pythor.
Pythor's only reply was, "He would've survived."
I gave him a glare. Although I did not care for the child or children in general, I still did not like the idea of letting someone starve to death. If you are going to kill someone at least do it quick. Don't make them suffer. That's what I had planned for Hebi.
Author's Note: Sorry about this one being mostly filler. I wanted to show Pythor's abuse, but I didn't have that many ideas. They'll probably be more small chapters like this, but I promise that there'll be a lot more real chapters.
Also yes, Scales did admit that he wanted to kill Hebi. Yes, that was in the exact same paragraph that he said that he didn't like the idea of letting people starve to death. Yes, Scales is a jerk who has messed up morals.
Hope ya'll enjoyed this chapter, and are enjoying the book so far.
