Zane's POV
"Oh! Sleeping in? You're gonna be late for training," Jay said as I walked out of my bed.
"How come no one awakened me?" I asked.
"We didn't think you wanted us to. You looked like you were having some dream," Kai said. I looked around. What if this was a dream?
"How do I know this isn't a dream?" I asked. Cole hit me with a pillow.
"Does that feel like a dream?" he asked as I rubbed my head.
"No. Thank you for your help," I said in a slightly sarcastic tone. I'd felt pain in my dreams before so this could still be a dream. Though I was quite sure I wouldn't dream of my friend hitting me with a pillow. So it was quite likely this was real life.
We walked to the deck.
"Hah hah. Little slow today. Huh? What exactly did you dream about?" Kai asked. I questioned telling them for a moment. I'd had dreams similar to this one, and it always meant something. Whenever I told anyone about them they shrugged it off. Then when something awfully similar to my dream happened I'd get called a freak. I did not understand why people thought that. I was simply dreaming dreams that were similar to what would happen in the future. Why did that make me a freak?
Still I thought that if I told my friends they'd see me as a freak too. But then I remembered that they already saw me as one so telling them this wouldn't change anything.
Maybe I just wouldn't mention the other times this has happened.
"I saw the falcon again," I said.
"Whoa. Zane, every time you see that bird something big happens. First it led you to the secret tree house," Jay said.
"Then it led you to The Bounty," Cole said.
"Alright. Stretches. First the swooping crane," sensei Wu said as he did the swooping crane.
"This time it showed me the green ninja," I whispered.
"The green ninja?" everyone asked shocked.
"That looks like the shocked money," sensei Wu said now facing us.
Cole had his hands on his ears. Jay had his hands on his mouth. And Kai had his hands on his eyes. I was the only one actually doing the swooping crane.
"Bad form. More focus," sensei Wu said.
"You can't just drop a bomb like that. Spill the beans," Jay said. I was happy to see that they did not think it was freaky.
"Yeah, what else did you see?" Kai asked.
"He was fighting lord Garmadon," I said.
"That's what the prophecy said. That the green ninja would defeat the dark lord. But did you have a chance to see which one of us was him?"
There were sounds of agreement, meaning everyone wanted to know.
"I could not tell. He shared attributes each one of us possess."
"Now pinching crab," sensei Wu said. We all did the pinching crab.
"Well, tell us everything and don't spare any details. There has to be a clue that tells us which one of us is gonna be the green ni-" Kai began. Wu pulled his hair, causing Kai to scream in pain. I never realized how stretchy it was.
"What was so important to ignore my teaching?" sensei Wu asked.
"Uh, nothing," Kai said.
"It was nothing, sensei," Jay said.
"Yeah, we don't talk while you teach," Cole said.
"I am pretty sure everyone was paying attention," I said.
"Since you all appear to be lacking in focus then you can all share in the punishment," sensei Wu said.
"What?" Kai asked.
"Punishment?" Jay asked.
"It was all Zane," Cole asked. It was my fault, but I still did not feel like any of us should get punished.
"I was merely answering their question," I tried to protest.
"No free time and no video games. The rest of the day can be used for training. And tomorrow for that matter." sensei Wu said. I was shocked. That did not seem like a punishment to me.
Training? For how long?" Kai asked surprisingly sounding upset.
"Until you can answer this simple riddle. What is the best way to defeat an enemy?"
"Easy. With a sword," Kai said.
"Your fists!" Jay said.
"Spinjitzu!" Cole said.
"Tornado of creation?" I asked.
"Ah. Pace yourselves. You have a lot of training ahead of you. Make sure you sharpen your mind as well as your spinjitzu," sensei Wu said as he walked away.
We all sighed. I was quite upset that I could not answer a simple riddle. My brain was one of my best traits.
"What's the best way to defeat an enemy? It could be anything! Ugh!" Cole complained.
"Come on, guys. We're smart. We can figure this out," Jay said.
"Well, not all of us," Kai said. I gave him a glare.
"It is not polite to insult your friends," I said.
"Don't worry. I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about Jay."
"You are still insulting your friend."
"Fine. Sorry, Jay."
"So Zane, let's hear more about this dream," Kai said.
"Let me just say the green ninja is awesome!" I said.
