Kai's POV

As I got on my dragon a scroll fell out of my bag.

"Huh? I don't remember putting this here," I said.

"That's sensei's bag. You must have accidentally took it in the rush," Zane said.

I began to try to read it. Main word try. It was all gibberish.

"What is it," Jay asked.

Not wanting to admit that I couldn't read it I said, "It's a scroll, windbag."

"I know it's a scroll, but what does it say?"

"Ummmm.......I think this word says sandwich," I said not at all knowing what it said.

Jay burst out laughing.

"Sandwich! You think one of sensei's scrolls has the word sandwich in it, and you call me dumb!" I was extremely embarrassed.

I had had to teach myself how to read, which caused me to be pretty bad at reading for a while. I still remember all the times the other kids would laugh and ask me why I still sounded out words. It had been very hard for me, everyone laughing and ridiculing me. And Jay laughing at me brought back those bad memories, making me feel very upset.

"W-Well you try reading chicken scratch!"

Zane quickly looked at the scroll and said, "This is not written in chicken scratch. It is written in the ancient language of our ancestors. Although it is quite hard to read, so I understand why you would think it was chicken scratch." Oh. So it wasn't because I was horrible at reading.

"Can you read it," I asked.

"Well, I can try, but as I said earlier it is quite hard to read."

He pointed to one of the random symbols. "This symbol means prophecy."

"Prophecy," Jay asked.

"It means it tells the future," I said.

"Course. Ha-Ha! I knew that! I was just testing you to make sure you knew that it meant that it tells the future."

"Sure you were."

"I think I've got it now," Zane said, and he began reading the scroll aloud.

"One ninja will rise above the others and become the green ninja, the ninja destined to defeat the dark lord."

"Oh, look, a picture," Jay said pointing to a picture on the scroll. It depicted a green ninja.

"Dark lord? Hold on... You think they mean lord Garmadon? Wait a minute. Is that us? Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?" I asked. I knew what this meant.

I was going to become the green ninja. I'd be the one to defeat lord Garmadon and save the world. I mean I was the strongest. And the smartest. And the bravest.

Although a small, very tiny, very miniscule part of me felt that I wasn't fit to be the green ninja. That it would go to someone better.

I reminded myself that that was obviously not gonna happen. I was the best ninja. No one else. Me.

My thoughts were interrupted when Jay said, "Like how good I'm gonna look in green?"

I said, "Ha! Isn't it obvious I'm gonna be the green ninja?"

"The color obviously suits me!"

Zane quickly said, "Technically, I am the best."

Cole yelled at us, "Everyone, stop it! Remember why sensei brought us together in the first place? We're a team. We weren't meant to see this and probably for good reason. Come on, let's head back home. We have training to do."

"It's about time I added some finesse to my routine," Jay said.

"Well, I could use some exercise," Zane said.

"Yeah, I've gotta work on some new moves," Cole said.

And they left.

"Could I be the green ninja," I wondered aloud while the rest of them flew away on their dragons.
