Lloyd's POV

Someone nudged me awake. It was probably one of my classmates. Sleepily I said, "Seriously? You bully me all day, and now you won't even let me sleep?" That's when I opened my eyes.

It wasn't one of my classmates. It was a girl with braids in her hair. I wondered what was going on. There were no girls at Darkly's. It was a school for bad boys. Not girls.

That's when I remembered what happened yesterday. I wasn't at Darkly's. I was on the street.

The girl stared at me confused, and after a moment said, "What do you mean bully you? I just met you."

"I thought you were someone else."

"Who?"

"One of my classmates."

"But we're not at school. We're on the street."

"I didn't realize that till just a moment ago." I got off the ground.

"Oh. Do your classmates really bully you?"

"Yes. Constantly. I think it's their hobby."

"That's horrible."

"You're telling me."

"Why were you sleeping on the street?"

"I don't have anywhere else to sleep."

"You're homeless?"

"Yeah."

"Well, you can stay with me and my family." I was overjoyed. Someone was finally helping me.

"Really? Thank you so much. You don't know how much that means to me."

"You're welcome. Mom always told me to help others. What's your name?"

"Lloyd. What's yours?"

"Harumi, but everyone calls me Rumi."

"Rumi. What a pretty name."

We walked around town together. Talking about all sorts of stuff.

Normally I didn't talk to girls, because they're stinky and gross. But this girl wasn't stinky or gross. She was sweet, and kind, and nice, and caring.

I learned tons of things about her. Like that her favorite food is gingerbread men, because her and her family make it every Christmas.

I told her tons of stuff about me. Like that my favorite food was mints. Specifically pillow mints. Because their the best mint, and the only sweet I'm allowed to have.

We had lots of fun and eventually I decided to ask her a question that had been on my mind for a while.

"Are we friends?"

"Of course."

I was more happy than I'd ever been in my entire life. I'd never had a friend. I'd wanted one for quite some time, and now I finally had one. Their was nothing that could ruin my mood.
