Rimuru's POV

The entire room went silent as soon as I uttered those word. Breaking free of VOTW is something that the natives wouldn't even think about and the other worlders wouldn't want as they would become weaker.

"Why would you want to do that?" Veldanava said in a serious tone.

"Veldanava, show us any one of your skills. Till now you have only ever used magic. But that magic itself is as strong as Ultimate Skill, but it isn't using a Ultimate Skill."

"*Sigh* How did you even think about it? Yes. The VOTW is actually set in place to limit your powers. If you really want to get as strong as us, the first thing you need to do is break free of the system."

"Huh?"
"Are you serious?"
"That VOTW actually limits us?"

And so on. What Veldanava said came as a surprise to everyone. Who would have thought that the system, the skills that they had wasn't their strength, rather their weakness.

"But don't get me wrong. Just because you will become free from the system, that doesn't mean you will become stronger. Rather, you will become weaker. You will have to control your powers on your own. Things which assist such as skills will become meaningless and just an empty shell." Veldanava explains.

"I see. That makes sense. It is much like assists in a game. Without them, the control becomes harder, but you have more freedom." Dino pointed out. Looks like he wasn't just sleeping. Now that I think about it, has he become an otaku as well? Were Veldora and Ramiris not enough?

"Are you guys sure you want me to remove your names from the jurisdiction of the VOTW. You will become weaker, but if you can control your power properly, you will become much stronger." Veldanava said.

"Is there even a need to ask? We are all demon lords. Obviously we want power. Even if it makes us weaker temporarily." Guy said.

"Woah woah woah. Calm down. Feel free to talk about yourself, but I would rather not." Elmesia said.

"I agree with her. It would be a problem if all of us were to suddenly lose our strengths. On top of that, we are yet to even reach close enough to even the weakest of you in terms of strength, so I doubt it makes sense for us to become independent either. It would be much better to just rule our nations." Gazel agreed with Elmesia, which was rare, since they both agreed on something, twice. Twice, in a single day.

"Suit yourselves. I doubt Rimuru would have much troubles since his old world didn't have any such concepts, but everyone else will struggle with controlling their power." Veldanava warned one last time.

"So what? Even I want to see how difficult it would be." Guy responded with confidence.

"Very well." Veldanava said as he brought up an interface and started tinkering with it.

"Oh Veldanava. By the way, would this method work?" I say as I have him a piece of paper. It had the method to break free of the VOTW, given to me by Chandra.

Veldanava stopped what he was doing and read the paper. At first he was reading slowly, but his eyes widened and continued to quickly read through everything. He then returned to his interface and quickly started doing something.

"Where did you get this from? Veldanava asked, all while still working on the interface.

"Secret. There's no way I will tell you that." I reply.

"Whatever. This is a dangerous loophole in the VOTW. If you used this, you could break free, but every other God would be alerted. Whoever made this clearly didn't know about this, or else they wouldn't have so brazenly suggested this. Anyways, I have fixed it, so it shouldn't be possible anymore." Veldanava said.

It seems Arun and Chandra were right. The method I had given to Veldanava was only half of what they had given. In reality, they already knew about other Gods being alerted. So, they even had a counter measure against. It is so elaborate that there is only one explanation. Someone has succeeded to this, if not from this world, then from another. After all, there is no way they managed to do this without trial and error.

"I will ask one last time. Is every one sure they don't want to be a part of the VOTW. There's no way back." Veldanava confirmed.
"Just get on with it." Guy complained. Since Veldanava didn't pursue the matter of the method to break free, any further, nobody else did either.

"This might hurt a little." Veldanava said. As soon as he said that, I felt excruciating pain, as if my soul itself was tore apart. But it wasn't so much that I had completely lost control of myself. I could still move around forcibly if need be, and safe seemed to be the case for Ciel. But it was much different for the others.

I could literally see something break free from their souls. Chloe was screaming in agony besides me. I tried to calm her down by patting her, but it didn't seem to have much effect. Both Leon and Ruminas were biting their lips. Their fingers curled into fists as they tried to force through the pain.

The expressions on Guy and Ramiris's face were indescribable. Their expressions didn't change a bit, bit the aura around them did. Milim on the other hand straight up passed out. Dino and Dagruel were not struggling with the pain as much, maybe because they were used to this, or maybe because they were close to Veldanava, so he helped them. If that's the case, then it is likely that Veldanava made Milim Sleep so that she doesn't have to endure this.

After a few moments, the pain suddenly went away as if it was never there. Chloe slowly regained her composure, but her breathing was still fast and erratic. I hugged her to calm her down, but before I could say anything, a screen appeared in front of me.

Congratulations to «Chaos Creator» Rimuru Tempest to ascend to Godhood. This will mark the end of the assistance by the system. Good luck in your future endeavours, Ruler of the Void.

This was written in the screen. It looks like everyone got a similar message as me.

"You guys shouldn't have much problem in your day to day life. But when you fight, you'll definitely have some trouble. Be sure to fight in a secluded area or another world to avoid damage. Get used to your powers now, especially before the war." Veldanava said as he opened a portal and took Milim with him.

After Veldanava left, there was a deathly silence in the room. Everyone was trying to gauge the changes in them.

"Let's meet after a few months and have some friendly fights. It will show how much control we have regained over our powers." I suggest.

"Very well. Since it is your idea Rimuru, don't forget to invite us all over." Guy said while smirking as he opened a portal to return. To think that he already has enough control to open a portal accurately.

"Well then see you later." Guy said as he passed through, followed by Velzard.

"Alright. I will open portals for you all to return. Please take care." Ciel said as she opened a portal.

Everyone nodded and went through without saying much. I guess the fact that they can't even open a portal to go through had really hurt their pride. But then again, I can't blame them, since I can't do it either.

Looks like the future is going to be rough.
