Rimuru's POV

Nearly a week has passed since we've become adventurers. We have gone on a few hunting quests, but the other adventurers still keep a distance from us.

I also noticed that we weren't the only the adventurers with black cards. Since others also had them and they were also being treated the same as us.

As we were deciding what quest to do, large sirens began to go off.

"EMERGENCY! ALL GUILD MEMBERS TO ASSEMBLE IN THE TRAINING HALL.

I REPEAT, ALL GUILD MEMBERS ARE TO ASSEMBLE IN THE TRAINING AREA." A man shouted gaining everyone's attention.

As everyone began to assemble, I took advantage of the rowdiness and managed to escape to the outskirts of the city along with Ciel and Chloe. I was about to use magic sense to see what was going on, but there was no need. It was easy to see why there was such an emergency.

Thousands of troops with what seemed to be mechanical Armor, that was completely out of the ordinary for this world. Not only the Armor, but they even seemed to have guns. And they weren't prototypes, but mass produced versions.

"What do you think?" I ask.
"They don't seem to be from our world. Might be from another world. But it definitely is out of place." Ciel responded.

"Rimuru, is it normal for people to fly in this world without magic?" Chloe asked as she pointed at what seemed to be a seperate unit of the army, hovering above the main army.

"Are they using jetpacks?! How did they get their hands on so many jetpacks?" There were easily more than two hundred soldiers in the air and nearly ten thousand soldiers in the ground.

A major evacuation was taking place and most of the lower ranked adventurers were helping with the evacuation. Meanwhile higher ranked adventurers were helping out the army in fighting.

"Hmmm.... Is it just me or is there no black card adventurers in sight?" I ask.

"No. You are right. There are none helping in evacuation or in the front line." Ciel replied.

I had not put a clone on any of the black card adventurers since I thought it would not be needed, but now I am cursing at my past self for not doing so.

I am pretty sure they are all gathered in one place since they were all suspected. I still have no idea why they suspected us, but regardless, since they gave us this black card, I am sure they will come to catch us.

As the army approached closer, there was a volley of stones and rocks from atop the wall. Most of the stones missed their targets completely as the enemy had not spread out, but a few that did hit the target did do considerable damage to the ground troops.

"Colour me surprised. They are using trebuchets and catapults in a defensive battle. Either they are extremely low on troops or they are just trying to stall the battle." I point out.

"I wonder which of the two assumptions is correct. Why don't you tell us miss?" Ciel asked the woman who was coming towards us. She was wearing a red dress and a black skirt with golden stripes on them. She had red hair and had various ornaments on her which doubled as protective equipments.

"Why should I tell our plans to you spies?" The woman asked in a menacing tone as she continued to reduce the distance us.

"Hmmm.... Isn't it too harsh to call us a spy? If we really were a spy, we wouldn't be just waiting here, would we?" Ciel pointed out.

"True, but who knows what you guys are thinking? If you surrender quietly, I'll guarantee your lives and let you free if you are proven to be innocent. Or else..." The woman said as she took out her sword.

"Now now, let's calm down. We have no interest in who wins this battle. Rather, I have little to no interest in what happens in this world. After all, we are not inhabitants of this world. We only came into this world because we wanted to meet Finn." I try to pacify the woman. Defeating her would be easy, but I have no idea how it might effect the upcoming battle. Seeing how she has enough strength to be an Awakened Hero, she must be someone Finn knows.

"Finn? How do you know about him? What's his full name?" The woman asked cautiously.

"Full name? Ah! Now that I think about it, I never asked for his full name. Did Rizzete tell his name?" I asked Ciel hoping Rizzete might have told her, but Ciel just nodded in disapproval.

"So you even know about Rizzete. Alright. I'll agree to the fact that you are not from this world. That would also explain why Ludmilla gave you the black card since there were no records of you guys. But that doesn't mean you are not enemies. Why do you want to meet with Finn?"

"That is something that I can't disclose. Regardless, shouldn't you be focusing more on the battle going outside?"

The ten thousand strong army had been reduced to a mere six thousand before they even entered a melee with Rigland's troops. Ludmilla was leading an army of nearly three thousand soldiers to defend the gate as nearly five hundred archers and mages provided cover fire from the walls.

"You three are more dangerous than those troops. If you guys go loose, apart from me and Ludmilla, nobody here would even be able to touch you."

"Why are you so cautious against us? Rimuru told you we won't do anything. We just want to meet Finn, then we'll leave." Chloe tried to explain to the woman again but to no avail.

Suddenly there was a space distortion above us and a portal opened through which a lump of metal Armor flew straight into the battlefield.

"What's that? It looks familiar." I ask Ciel.
"Isn't he the one who was behind Orcanyx in the banquet?" Ciel responded.

"RETREAT!" Ludmilla yelled. It was loud enough to be heard even from where we are standing, and this is more than a few kilometres away from the battlefield. All the troops were confused, but did what they were ordered.

"FORGET DEFENSIVE FORMATIONS! RUN! RETREAT AS FAST YOU CAN!" Ludmilla continued to yell as she prepared her body shield in her left arm and a mace in her right arm.

The lump of metal Armor quickly reorganized itself into a humanoid figure and dashed straight towards the portal, killing everything in its path. This caused enemy lines to fake falter as nearly a thousand of their soldiers were killed just by a few slashes.

Just as he was about to attack Rigland's troops, Ludmilla blocked his attack with her body shield and used her long chain mace to to restrain it's movement.

Just as the Armor was about to do something, someone came out of the portal and slashed straight at the armor with his sword. As he was restrained, he was unable to fight completely and took a heavy hit to the stomach.

"Thanks captain." Finn said as he stood besides Ludmilla.
"No problem. Just make sure to kill him this time." Ludmilla said as she prepared herself and lifted her shield.
