Ch-103

3rd Person POV

As soon as Yggdrasil signalled the start of the match, both sides divided into the groups. Yggdrasil faced against Chandra and everyone from Earth.

Rimuru, Ciel and Chloe decided to fight against Knox. Guy, who was dissatisfied since he also wanted to fight him, finally settled for fighting Behemoth. Milim therefore automatically chose to fight alongside Guy and deal with Orcanyx. Everyone else from the Cardinal World was tasked with defeating the underlings.

"Hmm... I always wondered why you guys wanted to go against me? After all, I am the one saving you guys, you know?" Yggdrasil declared in a pompous tone.

Suddenly, a large shockwave passed through the place they were standing at as the battle elsewhere had already begin. But, the earthlings were right now furious.

"What do you mean save us?! It was because of you that my wife died." Levi, the bulky man from Russia said with anger.

"So? Wasn't your world always the rule of the fittest? Your world didn't have the resources to sustain humanity, so I gave them the solution. Obviously, everything comes with a price." Yggdrasil said in genuine confusion as she was unable to understand why the people in front of her were angry, despite her giving them a way to save themselves.

Yggdrasil was unable to understand just how hypocritical humans were. Even if thousands or millions dies, it will not effect a human. He might show pity and feel bad for their relatives, but that's all. In no circumstances will they lose their sleep or go out of their way to help them.

It is only when they themselves and their friends or family are put in danger do they rise up, saying how everyone needs to come together.

"So what? We never asked for it. We never asked for you to create these tower and kill us. We would have figured out a way sooner rather than later." The Japanese man spoke in a low tone.

"A way? Oh please! You couldn't even move to a nearby planet, and you are saying you would have figured out a way to survive? There's no way you would have managed that." Yggdrasil taunted them, but then just shrugged her arms and gave up.

"Well, there's nothing much to discuss here. Even if you can revive here, I will kill you all later if you lose, alright? After all, I can't leave pests which might rise up against me alive, now can I?" Yggdrasil said as eleven Spears appeared behind her. Each one of the spears stones at the ten humans each. The eleventh one aimed at Chandra, making it two spears that attacked Chandra.

Arun quickly cut spear made of magicules into half, dispersing it into the air, before blocking the second spear aimed at Chandra. Chandra then used Earth magic to crush the spear.

Everyone else also quickly dealt with the spear that targeted them and took defensive stance against Yggdrasil, but Yggdrasil didn't move at all. She just continued to look at Chandra with an amused smile.

"You can leave if you want. I won't chase after you." Yggdrasil said as she pointed at Chandra. This visibly confused everyone, but they didn't let down their guard.

"What do you mean?" Chandra asked as she narrowed her eyes.

"Wasn't it obvious? I am Yggdrasil, the Goddess of Life. I have no intention to take the life of an unborn child." Yggdrasil declared.

Soon, everyone connected the dots. Chandra was pregnant. But the one who was the most surprised by this was Chandra herself, followed by Arun.

"Huh.... I am pregnant?" Chandra asked surprised.
"That's right, little girl. So if you want to step back, step back now. I won't come this matter and kill you, even after they lose." Yggdrasil boldly declared.

"How?... I was sure I took the pills." Chandra asked in a shaky voice.

"Oh? You mean the contraceptives? I thought they were a method to pass on the best genes to your next generation." Yggdrasil asked confused. Despite Earth being her own world, she never really tried to understand what was going on.

"The contraceptives kills most of the sperm with weaker genes but the ones that survive are definitely of superior quality, giving birth to a stronger next generation. Wasn't that what your plan was?" Yggdrasil asked confused.

But Chandra was even more confused. The pills that she had taken should have stopped her from ovulating, but Yggdrasil was talking about something else entirely.

"It doesn't matter. If what she is saying the truth, then you back down." Arun declared. He was the father of that child, and he didn't want to see not only his wife, but even his unborn child to die. Though the feelings he had for his unborn child was complicated, seeing that he just got to know about his existence, he was definitely not sad about it.

"That's right. It's better for you to back down. In case we really are wiped out, it would be better for you to atleast survive." Levi pushed Chandra to back out as well. The other women of the group also surrounded her and started giving her congratulatory gifts, though they were nothing more than accessories or weapons they had on them, and then told Chandra to stop being a part of the fight. Chandra wanted to fight as well, but seeing that no one was supporting her, in the end, she sadly accepted the offer Yggdrasil have her and stepped off the arena.

Yggdrasil, meanwhile, was looking at all this with a motherly smile on her face. As the Goddess of Life, she understood the beauty of a younger generation. She knew the beauty of life, but she also knew it's darkness. A love can only be lived by plundering others. Be it plants, animals or other creatures, no one can survive by but hurting another being.

Yggdrasil, was no exception to this. She also needed to devour souls to live. That was the main reason she would attack different worlds and destroy them. Her main goal was always to destroy the works and devour the souls of the residents.

"Let's begin now, shall we?" Yggdrasil said as Chandra left the arena.
