Rimuru's POV

"The Awakening of Gods ceremony is an old ritual. It is used to pass down and inherit the power of older era Gods.

You will all get a chance to enter the altar. The altar will decide which God's inheritance are you qualified for. Something akin to a lost will pop up. The names written there would not belong to the God, but also their titles.

The names which are written in white and shining would be the ones you are eligible to attain, while those in black mean that you have not completed the basic requisites to obtain that inheritance." Veldanava said, as if recalling his memories.

"Oh right! If no name pops up, then congratulations, you are the first one to achieve the pinnacle of the power you are control in. For example, Rimuru is quite proficient controlling the Void. If no name pops up, either in white, or in black, it means that no had attained a proficiency as high as you.

Once you choose the name of the God, you'll be teleported to a seperate space where you will have to pass the trial set by the God. If you manage to pass it, you will get your inheritance."

"And what if we fail?" It was Ciel who asked this.

"There have been a few cases of people failing, but the penalty for failing seems to vary. For some, it might be nothing, while for others or can be destruction of your soul, so choose wisely. You'll get to know the consequence of failing before entering the trial." Veldanava explained.

"So I take it, that you yourself had also passed this test?" Guy asked Veldanava exactly what I wanted to ask as well.

"That's right. I was also the first one to obtain the Heritage of a God from the First Era." Veldanava said with pride.

"Can you explain about these Gods a bit more in detail?" I ask.

"Well, this is not always true, but the First Era Gods were Gods which had control over the very basics of the universe, be it time, space, void or creation. I myself obtained the Heritage of the First Era God of Creation, Azura Mazda.

The Second Era Gods had control over things that had been derived from the powers of the First Era Gods, be it the basic elements, darkness, light, day and night, or simply, nature itself.

The third Era Gods had obtained their powers from the coming of intelligent species and their desires, like wrath, pride, lust, hope, despair, justice and so on.

The fourth Era Gods usually have the same area of expertise as the previous Gods as they too went through Awakening of Gods ceremony. As such, it is usually the inheritance of the first three Era of God ms that you obtain." Veldanava explained.

"So, we will undergo this trial and obtain their inheritance. But what exactly is this inheritance?" I ask.

"Inheritance, as the name suggests, is something that God whose trial you passed left behind. It can be anything, from a weapon, an Armor, a book or even a castle or an entire world. I myself obtained this world, the Cardinal World as the inheritance. At first out was completely lifeless, but after I changed some things and experimented with my powers, things changed, and this world slowly started to take shape." Veldanava said and went quiet. This left the room in an awkward silence.

"I doubt anyone wants to ask anything, so let's move on to the next topic, whose side are we taking in the fight?" Guy spoke up.

"Huh? Which fight are you talking about?" I ask.

"Between Finn and Orcanyx, obviously." Guy spoke with a master of fact tone.

"Who do we have to take part?"
"Because it's a waste otherwise. I doubt we will even get to fight a God later on if we don't take this opportunity."

"What? So you just want to fight?! Do whatever you want, but don't involve the entire world in this."

"Well, you certainly aren't wrong, that's why, we will decide by voting." Guy said with a smug smile.

"I say we support Orcanyx, since Finn is a stupid idiot who can't even control his own world." Guy said as he urged others to take a side.

"I say we support Finn. Fighting Orcanyx and Behemoth will be much more fun as they seem to be much more stronger." Milim said excitedly. Behind her, Carrion and Frey sighed as if they already this would happen.

"I support Guy. It's much better to fight a winning war and eat the rewards."

3rd Person POV

Rimuru, seeing as how everyone had taken it for granted they they would fight in the war was shocked. He hadn't expected everyone to be so keen on joining. He knew that everyone here lived to fight, but he also believed that everyone here atleast had enough brains to understand that fighting here would bring nothing but problems.

"As much as I hate to say it, I agree with the redhead. It's better to support Orcanyx. After seeing Finn, I can say that he is nothing but a disappointment." Rudra said.

"Who are you calling redhead?" Guy said with a scary smirk, as if to intimidate Rudra.

*Slam*

The sudden noise attracted everyone's attention. Rimuru had slammed his hands into the table and stood up.

"Have you guys lost your mind? Are you even understanding what you are saying. You are putting not only yourself, but even your people in harm. For what? I don't seem to see any benefit to support either side. It is much more beneficial to just stay on the sidelines." Rimuru said in a quiet, conceding tone.

"Lost our mind? It's you who has lost it. You have gotten used to the peace. You are trying to maintain this status quo. You are not trying to get stronger. You are stagnating, Rimuru. You are getting weaker. What's the benefit, you ask? We are getting stronger. What else is needed? You might have become a monster, Rimuru, but your thought process is still busy like a human." Guy said seriously.

"Where's all that cheekiness that you had before you died? Where is that hunger in your eyes for power that was there when you joined the Octagram? Rimuru. Forget about how strong you are. Even you saw it didn't you? There are Gods out there stronger than us. If we continue to live as is, without striving to get stronger, our lives now will no longer be in our control."

Hearing Guy lecture him, Rimuru was shocked, but most of all, he was sucked at the fact that what Guy was saying was the truth. After he had managed to revive Ciel, his thirst for power had slowly started to fade, and had completely disappeared after he reincarnated again.

"... You are right.... Now that you point it out.... Yes. Fine. I understand what you mean Guy. This fight will obviously be a place for us to realise where we stand amongst the Gods. But at the same time it will also be our debut in the world of Gods. So, of that's the case, then let's start with a bang. Why don't we go after the mastermind of this entire event? Why not declare war against Yggdrasil?" Rimuru's voice resounded through out the quiet room.
