Chapter 59: " Umbrella"

*Flashback*

It's pouring, as your luck would have it. And you're stuck at the bus stop.

Your last two lectures were cancelled hence you're done earlier than expected today. You were late for the previous bus and you'll have to wait an hour for the next one.

You'd go back and wait in the university library but you don't particularly want to walk all the way back in the rain. You're already mostly drenched.

At least your phone is fine this time.

You'd call PDnim to pick you up but he's away on another business trip. Minho is sick with the flu so he didn't come to class today. And Minhyuk went with Pdnim.

Hani would've been an option except she has a day full of lectures and an exam in the afternoon. You suppose you could wait for her but that would be a 5-hour wait instead of an hour one for the bus.

Cabs are scarce in this weather and in all honesty you'd rather not be in one during a storm. The clouds haven't come to a storm yet but you are anxious that it will soon.

So you message Jungkook. You hadn't at first only because you didn't want to disturb him during practice. But according to the schedule, the first set should be done by now.

You wait 10 minutes and he hasn't read your message. Knowing him his phone is on silent so you message on the group chat and the members and Aaliyah individually.

You even try calling everyone but there's no response.

You shiver when putting your phone away, deciding to wait a little longer for a response.

Maybe you should just walk back to campus. You really cannot be outside when the storm eventually hits. Even though Jungkook's comforted you countless times because of the rain and you've tried convincing yourself to not be troubled by it, your heart and mind and perhaps even your soul have not yet heeded your pleas.

You can't really blame yourself for it though. Fears don't ask for permission to exist. And trauma-related anxiety is not gonna disappear on a whim.

With no responses or calls after another 10 minutes, you take a breath ready to brave your way through the rain to get back to university.
It feels like the cold from the weather and your wet clothing is permeating your skin and settling into your bones. You shiver again and then, with a sigh, start walking to campus. Okay more like jogging.

When you finally reach an entry gate of the university, you take out your student card/I.D. to buzz in. But the system doesn't read the special bar code on your card no matter how many times you shove it in every direction in front of the sensor.

You cry out in frustration. None of the security are at the gate like they usually are so you can't exactly ask for help.

And today of all days nobody seems to be around. You walked all this way in the rain for nothing.

As much as you were outside by the bus stop at least you were covered by the bus shop's shelter.

You want to stomp your way back to the bus stop but seeing how today is already going for you, you'd probably slip and hurt yourself. So you're careful as you go back.

The moment he heard the start of the rain, a feeling of unease settled in Jungkook's chest. He checked his phone multiple times but there were no messages from you. He assumed you were busy since you did tell him you had lectures until the afternoon.
