*A/N- I got lost in this chapter. I just think it's so sweet and so Mialotte that I couldn't help but get sucked in by my own thoughts of how I pictured this night going. There's so much more I could've put, but I wanted to save stuff for future chapters with date nights. Anyway, enough rambling. Happy reading! Enjoy!
(MIA POV)
Char and I stayed at the bar for another hour or so before paying the tab and calling a taxi. While we were there, she filled me in on her run-ins with Summer and a few of the other parents. The nerve of some of these people. Why even bring your child to nursery if you're just going to complain or make false accusations on the staff? It will never make sense to me.She asked me how my time away had been treating me, and I didn't know what to say. I felt like the bar wasn't the right setting to tell her I'd seen my dad with Reecey and Autumn's mum in the flesh just hours before. I decidedly left that out and just filled her in on the hunt, and then told her about my put of town plans I'd made for the next few weeks full of business meetings. Nothing exciting.
The ride to my house was a short one. I was too nervous about her coming over to say much in the car. My thoughts were all over the place, wondering if I'd cleaned up before I'd left. Did I have anything in the fridge? What if she didn't like my decor? This was not my first time having someone over, but this wasn't just some random person. It was Charlotte.
I think she was nervous too bc she kept playing with her hands and looking out the window. Looking over a few times to check on her, I got lost in her beauty. The way the streetlights accentuated all her facial features and made her eyes sparkle was mesmerizing. I was only pulled away from her as the taxi stopped in front of the house. I paid the driver, and Charlotte and I got out.
"Wow. This is your house?" She asked with a gasp.
"Yeah. It's nothing special. It's smaller than I wanted, but it gets the job done." Way to sound like a snob, Amelia. The house wasn't huge, only 3 bedroom 2 bath, but it was very pretty.
I unlocked the door and let her walk in first, "After you, Sweetheart."
She stepped in and gasped again, "Wow. This is the inside of your house? It's stunning, and the decor just matches you perfectly. It's just like I pictured it." She took off her shoes, and I took her purse to put next to mine on the entry table.
"You've pictured my house?" I smirked, and she turned around.
Her eyes widened, and her cheeks turned pink. She said, "Well- No- that's not what I meant. I um-"
"It's okay, Sweetheart. I'm only teasing." I laugh and moved closer to whisper in her ear, "I've pictured yours too." I led her to the kitchen. "Would you like something to drink? I have water, wine, and some questionable milk. Are you hungry? I have some leftovers from the other night. Clearly, I don't have much, so if you are, I could order a pizza or something."
Charlotte laughed at my lack of food in the house. "Some wine would be nice. Although we did just have drinks and I have work tomorrow. Is that really a good idea?"
"Well, we won't know unless we try." I said, pouring us both a glass. We each took a sip, and then it got quiet. Trying to avoid awkward silence, I said, "Care for a tour?"
"I'd love one. Where should we start?" She answered with a smile.
"Well... you've already seen the entry, and if you couldn't tell, this is the kitchen and sitting room." I said, pointing to the room around us. "Television and sofa are over there."
"Yes," she laughed, "I gathered as much."
I couldn't help but let out a small laugh, too. Hers was just so infectious. "Want to see my home office? Personally I think it's the best room in the house." I asked, grabbing my glass and heading for the stairs.
