*A/N- "And just like that, everything started to turn again. The winds changed, the world went dark, and someone lost everything." Thanks to all, I've missed you. Happy reading! Enjoy!

(MIA POV)
A few weeks had gone by since the whole leaving incident, and everything was healed on the surface. The scar on my face was small enough to be hidden by my hair and a touch of makeup.

Because of all of that, I'd not been to see my mother in a while, but I had been calling her almost every day to make up for it. I sent her flowers and her favorite sweets, and I made sure to get her everything she needed to be comfortable in her new room. I'm not sure how, but now she had a room with a window overlooking her favorite spot on the grounds. The gardens.

There were flowers everywhere. There were loads of different benches and places to do crafts or play easy card games. Her favorite was the giant tree in the center.

When I'd come to visit in the daytime, she was always sat under it with a book or a puzzle. In the evenings, I would find her trying to sneak out to look at the moon and gaze up into the branches to see the little glowing specks and songs of the insects in summer.

As a child, she would always drag me out of my bed in the dead of night to go outside with her. She would lay out a blanket or a bed sheet in the middle of the grass for us to lie on. We would spend an hour or so out there looking at the sky, or she would have me close my eyes to listen to all the different sounds.

"Even in the silence, there is noise, Dearest." She would say to me, and then go quiet for a while. I'd never known what she meant until recently when I found myself deafened by the silence. The noise in my head was the only thing I could hear, and we all saw how that turned out...

I often found her out there by herself if I happened to wake up on my own. Every time, I would just sit and watch her from afar. Sometimes, she would be talking or arguing with herself. Sometimes, she would just be lying with her eyes closed, and I could hear her taking long, deep breaths of the air. A large majority of the time, she would be crying.

My mother always tried to hide her tears. I still don't know if that makes her strong or scared. It's always hard to tell and judge when I do the same thing. I knew better than to go to her when she cried. She wanted me to see her as perfect and untouched by negative emotions. Instead, I saw her how she was intended to be seen... human.

The morning dragged on for me with all the meetings and work I had to catch up on. I went to see my mum after everything was done, and I'd planned to spend the whole afternoon into the evening with her. Little did I know, the universe would have other plans.

I made my way inside without any issues. After the way Roger had acted, I assumed it was going to be a battle to go and see her. Autumn must've really put the fear of God in him. I hadn't even heard from him since that night, besides board memos and schedule changes.

When I reached my mother's room, I checked my reflection to make sure I looked perfect, and then I knocked softly while pushing it open. "Mum, it's Mia. Finally, here to see you."

Her face lit up when she saw me, and she immediately reached her arms out to me. "Dearest, come here!" She pulled me in for a tight hug and kissed my cheek. Then she let go and hit my arm, "Where in the world have you been!?"

"OW! What the hell! That hurt!" I yelled, putting my hand over the pink mark forming below my shoulder. "I've been working, and I've called you every day."

She rolled her eyes, "I'd rather see my child than hear her through a phone."

"Well, I'm sorry it's been so long. It won't happen again." I said, taking her hand.
